QUEEN ANNE'S LACE
In summers haze the dusty roads
are trimmed with Queen Anne’s lace.
Like bridal aisles, bedecked, adorned
with vintage nuptial grace.
Do you recall your childhood hours,
golden sunshine on your face,
when you made bouquets and fairy bowers,
festooned with Queen Anne’s lace?
I hope that in your memories,
you can recall the time and place
when all the dusty country roads
were trimmed in Queen Anne’s lace?

Now that is a great use for the letter Q - love Queen Anne's Lace. Sandie
Jenny, I love Queen Anne's lace and this poem. I will think of it now whenever I see it growing!
Be well ~Andrea~
Queen Anne's Lace definitely reminds me of my childhood. It grew all over my family's farmhouse. It seems like I don't see it as often now. Maybe I am visiting the wrong places. :)
You are Quite a poet, Jenny and the Queen Anne's Lace is so pretty. Ours is all ice and snow covered right now, so you pictures were extra pretty to me.
Always loved Queen Anne's Lace!!!
^_^
.
Jenny, what a delightful poem to start off my morning. Yes, I do remember Queen Anne's Lace. In fact it is blooming along the paths and trails around town. I've always loved its lacy quality. Your poetry is truly beautiful. Thank you! ~ Sarah
Loved your poem and your subject. Plenty of lace around my neck of the woods.
Jenny that is a wonderful poem! I love Queen Anne's Lace! It does always remind me a bridal bouquet!
i love Queen Ann's Lace, when I was a child I would pick big bouquets of it and bring them to my mother. She would promptly tell me "These are weeds" and throw them out! Oh well, I guess that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I love a huge arrangment in a crystal vase!
Love the poem and the Queen Anne's Lace. Great as usual teach.
I love this poem, and I love Queen Anne's Lace! And I love that I live in a place where I can let it grow and not have to worry about an HOA telling me that I have to cut the grass where it growing!
Nice poem, I've used Queen Anne's Lace in collages. I love it.
Queen Anne's Lace and a good poem. Two of my favorite things!

Queen Anne's Lace is one of summer's pleasures. I think it must grow everywhere!
I remember being told when I was little that it was a weed and thinking it was too pretty to be a weed.
You need to find a publisher!
I'm having trouble with link # 40. It keeps redirecting me to a Blogger log-in page.

Jenny!!! This is so lovely! You have captured the magic of some of my favorite childhood moments found far afield, caught in the enchantment of Queen Anne's Lace!
Wonderful!

I love this Jenny! Wildflowers are my favorite flowers. I love Queen Anne's Lace, it is blooming everywhere right now and it does just take me right back to childhood summers. What a lovely poem. Thanks for this post, it really made me smile after a decidedly crappy day :) Kathy
Such a pretty flower. At first glance it looks like a lapel pin.
Truly lovely.
Have a great one.
Melinda
Absolutely beautiful! It is my mothers favorite filler. We picked her some in the mountains...unfortunately it came in with a lot of little bugs.

this is such a beautiful post...the photos and the poem...just perfect!
Lovely poem, Miss Jenny! (A+)
I don't know that I've seen Queen Anne's Lace since moving to the Southwest thought it is one of the flowers that dots the landscape of my childhood memories. Along with Devil's Paintbrush which was probably my favorite. :)
Jenny, I did not know that is what Queen Anne's lace is. Very pretty.
Oh Jenny I love that poem, thanks for sharing it. I use to walk along the fields when I was a kid and pick Queen Ann's Lace. I did not know what it was called back then. My mom always said it was a weed now we all try and grow it in with our perennial/wildflowers.
I love Queen Anne's Lace. I don't think we have that growing around me. How delicate! Nice Q!
Oh, I love it! What a beautiful, wistful poem. Queen Anne's Lace is such a pretty name, too. Way better than cow parsley. Isn't it sometimes called cow parsley?
I love Queen Anne's Lace. When I was little we would pick it and use it in our wedding bouquets. I haven't thought of it in years - none around here.;o(
I love this lacy wild flower - and I love your poem too. You captured it!
it is a beautiful poem and I love the name but I dont like the flower...Why you say? because I associate it with the nasty bugs that live in them where I come from...when I was a kid I called them the nasty bug flower.....ick.
Great Q from the Queen of letters!
You're just soooo goooood!
It sure it pretty! It grows wild around here. I heard it is related to the carrot plant. (My friend who is a first grade teacher told me that.)
Don't laugh but in NH we call that... A WEED! OMG! I swear, that is considered a weed in NH! HAHAHAHA
I am a city girl as you know so I thought that was just the cutest darn thing the way it holds itself together and then POOF, it opens into the coolest flower and when I asked at the nursery they laughed at me. Yeah, I think it was "plant snub" in action. LOL! Anyway, that's how I know. We didn't have those in PR, or in Brooklyn (we had cement in our neighborhood and the gorgeous Botanical gardens just a LONG drive away!)
What a beautiful flower that I have been ignoring for years! Thank you for helping me 'see' it!
What a beautiful flower that I have been ignoring for years! Thank you for helping me 'see' it!
Oh, I love this post... and I had forgotten. As a girl I loved to gather Queen Anne's Lace along the dirt road tracks by my uncle and aunt's lake house where I visited each summer. Precious long green grasses and sunshine memory. Thank you. You captured it exactly (and beautifully).
Ah...the weed of my youth! I picked bouquet after bouquet for my mother growing up in New England. You just don't see it much any more, or maybe I need to get my childhood eyes back:)
I love this 'weed'!! It has a very special place in my heart frpm many years ago.
Beautiful poem about Queen Anne's lace, Jenny!
I want a road trimmed in Queen Anne's lace. One of my favorites!
I love Queen Anne's lace. We have some spotty stands of it in our pastures, but I do believe I'd like to plant more! It has such a simple, timeless beauty.
Lovely photo and poem of Queen Anne's lace...brings memories of when I was little...I would imagine that these were little clusters of even smaller bouquets...perfect posies for fairy weddings...I still love "minitatures" of anything...
Blessings & Aloha!
(I am on our son in law's computer...everyone is asleep still, but I wanted to get to some blog reading before the day begins with all his graduation events :o)
Such a beautiful poem about one of my favorite flowers! You're so wonderfully talented! xo Paulette
I have always loved Queen Anne's lace and baby's breath...two of my very favorite things! Beautiful poem, Jenny!
