For a short while anyway.
I made Mr. Jenny haul my over-head projector down out of the closet and set it up for me. I dragged the dresser out to the over-head projector. I tried over-head projecting. And tried again. I just couldn't get the darned machine to work right.
Finally, Mr. Jenny came out to see what I was doing. "What are you doing?" he said, quizzically.
"Trying to use this stupid over-head projector," I replied.
"Ummm..." he looked a little nervous, "Don't you have to use a transparency or something?"
Transparency?!?
Geez! Who knew!
So I trotted over to Kinko's and spend another 93 cents of my $5.00 project budget and had them make the tattoo design into a transparency.
I'm gonna be honest. It worked a whole lot better.
Here's my tattoo dresser project as it continues. It's looking kind of scary at this point, but don't worry. I'll worry enough for us both, okay?
...and in a totally non-tattoo-dresser related segue...when I picked up Morgan for preschool on Monday she told me that a mosquito had landed on her over the weekend. "Oh Gwamma," she said with her big blue eyes shining, "That mosquito just landed on me and made me all sting-ly."
More dresser project on Friday!
Thanks for stopping by!
Sincerely,
Your slightly challenged Audio-Visual blogging friend

Tee-totally awesomeness, Jenny! I just the way you painted the inside of each drawer a different color and then the bubble gum pink on the outside. I can't wait to see the final touch! You're doing alright getting a freebie dresser and keeping the fixer up at five bucks or under. You rock!

Oops, my bad! It's early and I haven't had my morning coffee. I meant to say, I just LOVE the way... There, I've corrected myself now time to make that coffee before I make more goof-ups. =(

OH Jenny that looks awesome....I adore all the bright colors and look at you go with the projector....
I love it and I can't wait to see more!!!!
That darn old mosquito...giving her a stingly!!!!!
Wishing you a great day sweet friend!!!
It looks like it's going to be cool!
Can't wait to see more of your tattooing a dresser project!
Wow that looks great! I can't wait to see the finished product!
This is a pretty ambitious project. I'm looking forward to seeing the end results of your hard work.
out of the mouths of babe...can't wait to see the finished dresser...what a cool idea..
Honestly, I've never seen anything done quite like this. "Tattoo style" is a new concept to me and I really can't wait to see the finished project. Do you know...of course you don't...that my nephew (now 33) has the full size 8x10 church photo of his grandparents (my husband's parents) tattooed on his arm. Yup...full faces, wrinkles and all...in living color. Worst thing ever.
wow! that dresser looks awesome!!! i can't imagine the time and patience it is going to take for you to finish, but i can't wait to see it! what a great idea... i may have to steal it :) but on a much smaller scale... i don't think i have that much patience!
and the granddaughter... seriously adorable. love the stories you tell about her!
Transparency...heeehehehe...girl your just to darn funny!!!
I love the bright and colorful dresser and can't wait to see the finished project. I just know it's gonna be fantastic!!!
God bless and have a fun day sweetie!
Well I never---. Aren't you clever? The finished project should be awesome.
Your project is looking beautiful. Gotta say...you are braver and a lot more talented than I to have tackled that. You are going to have a masterpiece to be proud of when you are all finished. Hugs!
What a lot of work, but you will end up with a beautiful and unique dresser....and you can say a big "I told you so" to Mr. Jenny.
I can't wait to see the finished dresser - and to read the glowing endorsement of your garage sale transformation from Mr Jenny.
Stingly?......there are parts of Canada in which she would be hyper stingly from April to October!
Tell that sweet girl that bugs make me all sting-ly TOO!
I think you are super duper clever...the dresser will be beautiful!
very cool, i cant wait to see how this turns out ... and i love the stingily bit ... totally cute!!!
Can't wait to see how this thing turns out!
(It's making me all sting-ly.)
;)
That is such a great project! I love love love the tatoo idea....now if only I had a projector.....and a transparency......and a dresser to paint....I would so copy this idea!!
What a clever idea! Love it!
I can't believe what your going through to get that tattoo design on the dresser but buy golly, your doing it!
I'll be back to see the final results.. good luck and happy painting!
Sandy
It's looking good :)
Man, I need me an overhead projector so I can do some cool stuff like this! I so wanna be crafty & stuff but I just never take the time to do it. I look forward to seeing the finished project!
What a cool idea! I can't wait to see the finished project.
I had no idea you were Miss Crafty too. Is there any end to your talents? This dresser is going to rock!
Dana
At least Steve's input was productive, this time. LOL! Keep up the good work!
I admire you for the tatoo design. I just do not have the patience for that. Or a steady hand. It looks good so far! Keep it up!
Honestly you WILL get there Jenny. I always think my projects in progress are awful and wont turn out anything like my original vision but they usually do. Love the idea about the over head projector. Im saving that for future reference, although Im pretty sure everything that can be painted has been painted at Casa Pyajamas.
Push on - cant wait for the final reveal.
Your dresser is looking great! And it will look fantastic when you are all done with it! Yay for your hubby! haha
And hope your Morgan isn't sting-ly anymore!
Blessings & Aloha!
1) The dresser is going to be so unique and fun!
2) Pretty sure you could write about the kitchen sink, and I'd find it entertaining. You are just so stinkin' talented! (and 3) I'm pretty sure I've left this same comment several times since I first found your blog. Keep on writing!!)
Hahahahahaha!
Love the dresser AND Morgan!
I think your dresser looks rad! I wish I had an overhead projector. I would totally paint my whole house with doodles. On second though, maybe its better that I don't have one.
Hey this is looking awesome!!!
I'm not aloud to use paint after I spilled in on the guest room carpet. But thank goodness for my little Green Clean Machine!!! It sucked out all of the paint and you can't tell and I am sooh off the hook with the hubby. Jeeze. I don't know why men get so upset about the littlest things. Jeeze.
Can't wait to see the finished product! I may have to sneak off somewhere and paint my little foot stool with my Valspar paint sample. My fingers are getting itchy. :)~Ames
Great minds think alike. I also started a project that's been sitting in my garage for months. All these bloggers fix up furniture and I wanted to try it too. The desk cost $10 and I spent all afternoon sanding, filling holes, etc. I enlisted my husband's help in making some repairs to the drawers. I still need to fill and sand some more. There won't be any tatoos...that looks much too involved and the way I work it wouldn't get done until a year from Christmas. I'd like to have this desk done within the next few months. Like a good blogger I took some before pictures. I just hope I'll be able to take after pictures some time in the near future. Just call me Betty Mustardseed. (How I wish!)
