Wordless Wednesday

OK, I keep reading about this on other blogs and to be honest...I just don't get it...

So you are supposed to put up a whole post with no words?

Is that even possible?

I'm going to try it, though, in honor of wordless Wednesday and all.

But first I want to tell you a story.

It's kind of related.

I don't think it happened on a Wednesday so potentially the story is about a previously successful wordless Saturday of mine. Or a wordless Thursday. I can't really remember.

But this is a true story.

Several years ago when my friend Joan was visiting us from Ohio my husband was taking us on a tour of the desert.

Because, you know, each cactus is unique and has its own individual beauty. Or something. Or maybe that's a snowflake.

But it doesn't matter, really, because it is not relevant to the story here.

So we were driving and I might have been talking a wee bit too much because somehow the two of them concocted an evil bet with me that I couldn't be quiet for five minutes. I think there might have been money involved.

This seemed like an easy bet but I'm gonna be honest here.

After about 3 minutes I thought I would explode.

Seriously. I had a ton of things to say.

And that darned clock just ticked on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on... (I used that to illustrate how long it felt to me...I'm all about the experience of the story, you know?)
So finally the time was up and I was allowed to talk AND I won the bet.

So that proves, along with this post, of course, that YES! I CAN HAVE A WORDLESS WEDNESDAY! (or even a wordless Saturday or a Thursday with totally no problem)

Please feel free to link this to any Wordless Wednesday McLinkeys as a prime example of how to execute Wordless Wednesdays correctly.

And don't feel bad if you haven't mastered it yet. I had previous experience which made me sort of a master of silence.

And since we're all friends and all I feel I can share with you that at the beginning of this post I was actually worried I might not be able to actually do it!

Silly me!

Sigh.

  1. Yup! A post with no words...just a picture. You know..."A picture is worth 1000 words!" HeHe! Good luck!

  2. Well, I was going to try to leave a blank comment here but it wouldn't let me....(O:
So, I'll say I LOVE this picture! Couldn't be a more perfect one for a wordless day. I don't know about the others out there, but my wordless day is cause I can post something... and run to work! And I put something on that requires no story, it speaks for itself. Like the one you left. But you had the time to add words. I'm usually at work by now but they said come in an hour later. Which means I gotta leave soon. But I wanted to say something somewhere...
Love your *no words* story and the fact that you have a hard time NOT talking! I've been told it takes me ten minutes to explain something that most can do in one..
And I don't get the McLinkey thingy yet..something I'll work on if I ever find the time, which I could do if I'd stop talking so much, ya know..
So anyway, GREAT WORDLESS WEDNESDAY POST JENNY! Even if you said a few words..
Just smile! And have a wonderful day!...Ya, I'm laughing (O:

  3. The reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode where I guy takes a bet that he can remain silent for a whole year for half a million dollars. He does it, and when the year is up he finds out the man who'd agreed to put up the money was broke! And the kicker was, he had cheated and severed his vocal cords!

I could do a year, easily, if I had some books and paper and pencils.... and someone else would watch my kids!

  4. We are kindred spirits dear friend!!! My husband would be OVERJOYED if he thought there was any chance at all that I could be silent for five minutes!!! :-)

  5. My doc told me once I would probably die if I stopped talking so I took it to mean I should not stop talking at any cost. He could have meant something else but I decied not to question him. Which is unusual itself, as all my docs would agree.

When I saw Wordless Wednesday I knew that there'd be words.

  9. You are so funny Jenny, and we actually did that same bet with my now 28 yr. old daughter when she was about 8 yrs. old. On a car trip. Oh it was agony for her and we all thought it so funny! She had to keep quite for 30 min.! A big challenge for her. I think that she won though.
I never quite understood wordless wed. myself. I mean whats the point?

  12. LOL ... Even though I love to share photos, I've never been able to publish anything without words ... so I tend to label mine (Almost) Wordless Wednesday (or Mostly WW) and in doing so I discovered there's a group called Wordful Wednesday that might be just the ticket for you. That said ... your post was most entertaining and I'm delighted to have dropped by.
    Hugs and blessings,

  17. Jenny, this reminds me of an old proverb: "Do not speak unless you can improve the silence." I'm almost POSITIVE the things I ramble about do little to improve ANYthing :- )

  23. How funny, Jenny..... I'm just so impressed that you can BE QUIET---and do a 'wordless' Wed. post. I didn't know you had it in you, Gamma....

I was wondering ---did you have your tonsils out when you were a child???? Did you squeal????? Did your voice pitch change????? Could it be like Gamma like Granddaughter????? ha ha ha ha

(I had my tonsils out when I was a child--so that's why I could probably make you squeal also!!!! ha

Have a good 'wordless' day, my friend.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  28. i keep wanting to do a wordless wednesday...but my pictures always need captions to explain them, yanno, lest anyone get the wrong idea about them. Not that I'm ever doing anything questionable. no ma'am, not me. But sometimes people just view things differently and I feel the need to explain the why or how or who....knowwhatImean? so yeh...maybe i'll try a wordless wednesday with a just a footnote or sidebar or something? that shouldn't count against me, right?

Hi! Thanks for leaving a comment! My handy dandy e-mail assistant always notifies me when you do and I read every single one.

I try to respond to comments with a return e-mail BUT I just noticed that I've been answering a lot of them to blogs that haven't linked their e-mail address to their Google account! I haven't been ignoring your comments, but now I know you aren't getting my reply e-mails! I'm sorry!

I know a lot of other bloggers who respond to comments via e-mail so if you haven't left off your e-mail on purpose, you might want to add it on! If you don't know how you can let me know in your comment and I'll see if I can help you!

Thanks so much for reading my 'Tangents'! Your comments always feel like a hug!
