The tale of turmoil in a marriage - and a giveaway

There's something wrong with Mr. Jenny.

Fundamentally wrong.

It's about how he behaves before company comes over.

He walks around the house turning on all the lights.

Seriously.

I ask him why he's doing this.

He says it's because our house is so cool.

Ummm...yeah...not!

I walk around making sure the toilets are flushed and there's no dog poo deposits in the corners of the hall and then I turn all the lights off, except a few strategic ones that don't highlight the dust and unvacuumed corners. I make it all warm and cozy and inviting.

And then I go to change my clothes and put my make-up on.

When I come back, Mr. Jenny has turned all the lights back on again and it looks like we are the personal owners of the electric company here and/or we are planning on interrogating our guests.

Arrrgggh.

I know this is probably just the difference between men and women, but seriously.

I'm all excited to see our friends from Shawnee, Kansas, Carol and Dwen!

I'm just not all excited for them to see our dust.

Sigh...

BUT...

If you have a husband like Mr. Jenny and/or you are more confident of your house cleaning skills, I have a great giveway today for you from CSN stores.

If you can use more lighting in your house, including recessed lighting, CSN online stores have a wonderful selection for you to choose from.

They have all kinds of recessed lighting I'd never even heard of before including 'beauty spots'!

And look at this one!

It would be perfect for Mr. Jenny AND me. He could question people thoroughly by pointing it at their faces...and I could shine it up at the ceiling where there is hardly ever any dust or dog poo.

It would be a win-win light for us for sure!

And you can pick your own recessed lighting, or anything else you like from the CSN on-line stores if you win this giveaway for a $65.00 gift code.

Here's the rules and how to get five chances to win:

1. You must be a follower of this blog. Yeah, that makes me feel all kinds of powerful WITHOUT even shining a bright light on you! (chance 1)

2. You can get an extra chance if you want to post something about this on your own blog. Make sure you put in a second comment, though, saying that you did. (chance 2)

3. Put another comment here on Thursday. (chance 3)

4. Put another comment her on Friday. (chance 4)

5. Ummm... gosh. I can't think of anything silly to make you do. Ummm... oh what the heck...just type the word comment under comments as a new comment and that will count as chance 5!

I will do the drawing sometime Saturday morning, March 12th and Mr. Random Org will assist me if he is available.

Good luck!

I'm off now to turn off all the lights again (I am writing this on Tuesday afternoon) before our friends arrive.

Sigh...

  5. I hope you have a great visit with your friends That should cheer you up. I hope your jaw is healing, too, so you can eat yummy food together.

  6. Just invite old folks and have them check their glasses at the door and you'll be fine. :)

  7. Oh how I've missed coming here and getting a total laugh! I've been so busy, hardly any time for fun:(
In my house it's the opposite~ me turning on all the lights and my hubby following me with the vacuum to get the dust I'm illuminating! lol! he's kinda anal, but I love him:)
Ya, I need more lights!! count me in:)

  8. #1~ I am a follower!! Love this post, I hate bright lights and yes it's because we all look better in softer light...has Mr Jenny checked his eyesight? lol...enjoy your friends!

  11. I AM a follower:) I love to turn the lights on when company is coming! It does however show the dust and I have plenty of it!

Have a blessed day my friend, HUGS!

  12. I had a temp job where I sat in a model home all day, waiting for potential buyers.

The real estate person who hired me told me to turn on EVERY light in the house - it makes it look more inviting.

Maybe Mr. Jenny has been consulting real estate professionals for his information.

I thought it was silly, but I was obedient. As I flipped each switch, I'd say, "Let there be light!" - then I'd sit in the garage/office and read a good book.

  13. Of course I am a follower! OH, yes, I am also the person who goes around after others turning off lights.

  16. Absolutely spot on!! What a great post...yep, Men are from Mars for sure.

I am also somewhat relieved that with most of our friends in the same age bracket and we all share the same eyesight issues...at least we understand one another's dust and with all my horizontal log surfaces you can bet we have dust (plus 3 shelties!)

Thanks for good giggles to start the day.

  17. We generally keep on only the light in the room we are in. Some friends came over the other day and most were sitting on the front porch. One girl came in, but went right back out because she was creeped out by no lights being on! We have an old house, so she couldn't find the light switch. Maybe I need new lights...

    2. Comment.

I am just saying you steps. I am going to blog about it tomorrow since I already blogged today.

You know I need to win. I am going to need a lot of lighting in a cottage I want Vandy to buy up home. I need it. It has NO lighting. NONE. I need lighting.

I am Mr. Jenny and Vandy is Ms. Jenny. Weirdness!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. lol, that's funny. From the outside looking in it probably has your neighbors wondering...lights on, lights off, lights on, lights off...lights on!

    ReplyDelete
  20. LOL Jenny, I lik to say my house looks "lived in" !!

Chance 1 for the give away!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, my company has finally left, but one of them left little reminders all over my house. Alley is shedding and there are clumps of black hair everywhere. Each time I think I have it all up, more seems to appear out of nowhere! I will try to catch up, even though Rod would scream at more lighting in our house. He's the one who goes around turning off lights that I have left on!!

  22. Chance number 2, I made a post about this on my own blog.

  24. Well I have the same problem with my mister. It can be exhausting going behind someone and constantly turning out lights. But then he is not the one in our household to sit down and write a check to the power company every month. Hummm maybe I need a break from paying the bills! I say it's his turn.

Enjoy your company! And thanks for sharing the give away with us!!~Ames

  25. Oh you make me laugh....Joe and I are so your twins....He has been off this week and I asked him to do a few things....like hang a shelf...dear me....he hung it crooked, he hung it way too high and then tells me it is eye level...sure eye level to a 6'" man....but no one else!!! I complain all the time about the lighting in this house!!

I love recessed and so need new lights in my craft room....and by the way..hubsters is an electrician and still has not put any lighting up for me...Maybe is I had these goodies in my hand...he would have to!!!

Wishing you a great day sweet friend!!! :-)

  29. Before friends come around, I run round the house cleaning all of the bits they are likely to see. This works on a sliding scale. For some guests, it only means downstairs and bathroom; for closer friends it could mean the whole house, but for the very closest friends, I only do a spit and polish because they wouldn't care if my house looked like a bombsite!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Have fun with your guests, Jenny! I have a feeling there's a whole lot less dust around your house than you think...

    ;)

PS. Having said that, I like warm lights better than bright ones myself!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jenny, I think the issue here is that men don't SEE dust or dog poo. It is not in their eyesight DNA!!!

  32. Hi Jenny! Thanks for the visit!

  42. Hahaha, I have totally been part of that scene...lights on, lights off, lights on again. We must be getting old; we have found the appropriate amount of lighting that we can both agree on. Great way to introduce your giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Since my husband does work for the power company, I have the opposite problem here. I walk out of a room to get a cup of tea and when I come back, the lights are all turned off! Would love to win!

I have a CSN giveaway going up on my tablescape post tonight. You really must check it out as my centerpiece is stunning...a wonderful gift from someone very special.

  44. So my house is always a little dimly lit for similar reasons...

Your Hubs reminds me my my 'Geek Son' when he was just a little punk. When he'd hear a peek~alert announced on either the TV or radio the little fella would grab his little red stool and turn on every stinkin' light in the house!
    Go figure!!!

Woohoo!!! I love CSN and Mama needs a new comforter in the Master. :o)

  57. It's me again!:D I am here to leave another post for your giveaway.

I lost at Bunco last night and got to bring home the ugly slow turtle again. I am so humiliated...again. I hate the little guy and I think I'll glue some of my grands googily eyes on it and paint it toe nails before next month game. It must be uglier for the next person who gets stuck with it.

Well that is my Thursday comment for the chance #3 !

    Have a great day!~Ames

  65. Hi Jenny, It's me again :) Here to leave another post comment for Friday Chance nunmber 5!

I'm up super early, rushing around and doing last minute preparations for my 2pm Tax appt. Lordy if I had all that money we put out on medical bills last year I'd have already tiled my dinning room, kitchen and laundry room. Arrgh.

Just saw that an 8.9 earthquake struck Japan. Other locations are waiting on Tsunami's to hit. Prayers go out to the victims families and those affected.

Jeeze what's going on with mother earth??
    Have a great weekend!~Ames

  76. Heehee. I am like Mr. Jenny. I want there to be lots of light. Jeffrey would be happy with only one light on. Something about saving money and wanting to live in a cave. I don't get it. But I am glad to see that I am not the only one with problems like that. :)
