A movie review to start your week!

So...yeah.

I think I saw 'HOP' over the weekend.

I'm not totally, completely sure.

I went there with four little girls ages 4 1/2 to 8.

This is what I remember about the whole experience.

"Grandma, I spilled my drink!"

"Grandma, I spilled my popcorn!"

"Grandma, can I sit in your lap?"

"Grandma, she spilled her drink on me!"

"Grandma, can I sit by you?"

"Grandma, I can't find my shoe."

"Grandma, I don't want to sit here, can I trade seats?"

"Grandma, I dropped my Junior Mints!"

"Grandma, did you see that? Did you see THAT?"

"Grandma, is it my turn to sit on your lap now?"

Etc.

Etc.

and when it was over...

"Grandma, did you like the part when...?"

"Grandma, did you see me spill my Sprite?"

"Grandma, why didn't I get to sit on your lap longer?"

"Grandma, wasn't that funny how you couldn't find my shoe?"

"Grandma, did you like the movie?"

...

...

Huh?

Movie?

Movie?

Was there a movie?

So, yeah, I think I kinda/sorta saw the movie 'HOP' this weekend.

And I think it was pretty cute.

Sigh.

  1. Oh my gosh...is this ever a classic. I can agree with every single sentence. Right now I'm in D.C. babysitting during spring break.

Grandmagrandmagrandmagrandmagrandmagrandgegrandma.........I don't remember hearing the 'mom' word as often. And I won't be back in Mesa till the 30th.

  12. so, so true. I haven't become brave enough to take my grandkids to the movie. yikes. I leave that up to the parents.

Therefore, you are one awesome grandma!!!

  13. A far more delightful movie than what 10 of my quilting buds & I saw on Saturday. I would take Hop over Black Swan in the future. Pass the milk chocolate bunnies please - no dark chocolate for me. And only "Hoppy" films in the future!

  16. God bless you for taking all of them to the movies alone!

We took my youngest (7 and a half) to see it the weekend before last since my oldest was at a sleepover. It was a cute movie.

  17. At least you didn't fall asleep in the movie theater. That's what I often do. :)

  18. I can't believe you didn't hear, "Grandma, I have to go to the bathroom"!! You are so brave. I don't like taking all my kids alone - It's HARD!

  19. I can't even tell you how familiar this is to me.

  21. That's why I never went to the theatres with the kids when they were little. Nah,just kiddin'! This is so funny and I know every word you wrote is true. How can it not be? I mean, when you throw small ones into the mix, then you know it's going to be chaos and fun. Maybe, you'll have to check it out again when it's available on DVD. That's my prefer method for seeing any movie. I can choose to pause anywhere during the flick without missing a beat. Happy Monday!

  22. I had a similar experience at the same movie last week only it was with the boys not the girls. Took three of the four brothers (grands. I stashed some candy in my bag along with those really little bottles of water. Then I bought two large popcorns. I just have a problem paying 3 times what I can buy the same movie candy at the store and get more. Because these boys can put the candy away. Candy hit the floor, little toys from the vending machines that they put in the lobby (what is that about all of my quarters were gone in a minute) were dropped. Absolutely no one changed seats. I put the 6 year old on one side of me and the 10 year old on the other and the 4 year on the other side of him. Because the 4 and 6 year old cannot sit together nicely anywhere! I think the movie was cute also, like you I just think it cannot really say I know it was.

  23. LOL, LOL, LOL!!! :)
    Funny post Jenny!
Sigh, I remember those days with my own girls and you know what? As annoying as the whole experience could be, I cherish every single trip to the movies and wish I could do it more often now that they are grown.

  24. and all the while you were busy building memorable moments and showing grands that they were loved. Kudos!!!

  26. You know what I'll always remember? That our Mammaw Lena took the four of us little girls to see Mary Poppins at The Magnolia Theatre downtown and snuck in little miniture packets of chocolate covered raisenets for each of us. What a gem she was to risk being thrown out of the movie theatre just so we could have candy! We loved her so much! Still do!

They will remember that their gwammaw took them to see "Hop", even if you didn't! And I bet they will watch it again when you forget that you took them and either rent the movie on DVD or buy it for them! Hugs! :) ~Ames

  27. Four? Four little girls??? I can only imagine! (and that's as far as I'll take it... in my imagination) I'm not nearly brave enough to do it for real. Bless you!

I have seen the ads and I can't wait to see it....I love it when he "poops" the jellybeans! LOL Happy Easter! Sandy

  29. Tip o' the hat, Jenny! I was the mom who accompanied 8 preteens to the N'Sync and Pink concert, but the plus was they were 100% drawn into the concert. (I kind of liked it, too, I must confess.) I couldn't do it with children the ages of your charges.

  30. And you LOVED every second of it:)

  31. G'ma, I have to go to the bathroom. Now, they come one at a time & they love it. They always know whose turn it is. They get to be only children for acouple of days. It's great!

  32. We took Joey to see "First Encounters of the Third Kind" when he was young. He slept through most of it. On the way home we asked him how he liked the movie. He said it was GREAT!

I know you had a wonderful experience!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I can totally picture it....the scenario, not the movie itself!
    Tooooooooo ka-yuuuuuuuuute!

    ReplyDelete
  34. (sigh) How many times did you go to the bathroom during the show? That's always my favorite. When they want to see what it looks like. During the show. Are you kidding me?! Crazy kids.

    ReplyDelete
  35. What a sweet grandmother you are! How fun for those girls. Now the big question is:

When are you going to take my kids to the movies?

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Shhhhhh...don't tell any of my eight grandkiddos but I secretly watch the 'kids' movies I want to see when they come on Dish. Yep, just me and a bowl full of popcorn! Heeehehe!

It sounds like ya'll had a bang~up time!

    God bless ya! :o)

  37. definitely cute and a treasure. I'm imagining how they will remember this--well maybe not this particular incident, but the cumulative fun times spent with you--in years to come.
