So...

Just so I don't break my post a day habit, I'm posting a post...

And this is it...

Who. In. Their. Right. Mind. Lays. Tile. And. Doesn't. Seal. It?

Who, I ask you?

I have spent much of the day trying to scrub the grout in our new rental house with a scrub brush.

Yeah.

Ummm...

Ick.

I am paying a professional company to come tomorrow and try and do some kind of stream extraction on the unsealed grout...because...

Ummm...

Ick.

Just sayin'.

Unsealed grout should be illegal.

I will be circulating a petition on just this subject soon.

Ummm...

Ick.

  3. I don't think the builder of our house, sealed anything. Probably why he went out of business really quick.

  4. Uhhh my dear husband would be one of theose persons. We laid tile and I put up a hissy fit because he didn't want to go to the trouble to seal the grout. And he didn't do I found using a product found at Lowes or Home Depot called Fannazle. It's in a spray bottle or a bottle with a spout. squeeze some on your grout...let it sit...then wipe it off. Makes the grout look brand new.

  5. ICK! And you can't do anything about it because it's a rental. I hope the steam cleaner works.

I think laying wallpaper directly onto unprimed, unsized, DRY WALL should be illegal too.

Don't ask me why I think it...

  7. Sounds like something one of the DIYers in my family might do. They have a knack of hitting the "almost, but not quite" mark every time. Thankfully, after growing up with a family of almosts, and marrying an almoster, I raised my children right. We call a professional from the start. We no longer have to pay for things to be "done" and the "redone".

  9. Gross! I think you should treat yourself to a nice walk in the fresh air and sunshine, far, far away from that icky old grout.

  10. Help, I'm out of my mind. None of our grout is sealed. I asked about sealing it and was told there are pros and cons and elected not to seal. However, I have a bag of grout in case I ever want to do touch ups. I use bleach on the grout even though I've read it's not good for it.

  12. I have unsealed tile countertops. Not nice shiny ceramic tiles or something that's already glossy and shiny, but flat, I don't-know-what-they're-made-out-of porous unsealed tiles. They are constantly stained and I've tried lots of remedies to no avail.

I'm interested in looking at that Finazzle!

  13. Jenny- wouldn't it be cheaper to seal the grout? I've done it and it's easy. Some you can spray on,some are like a pencil, some are a roller applicator. Easy least if I can do it! Just a thought.

  14. Those people should be locked up for life I tell ya!

    And....

Our tile has to be resealed yearly...yeah, that is not so much fun either.

I hope those specialist can perform miracles for you.

Hi! Thanks for leaving a comment! My handy dandy e-mail assistant always notifies me when you do and I read every single one.

I try to respond to comments with a return e-mail BUT I just noticed that I've been answering a lot of them to blogs that haven't linked their e-mail address to their Google account! I haven't been ignoring your comments, but now I know you aren't getting my reply e-mails! I'm sorry!

I know a lot of other bloggers who respond to comments via e-mail so if you haven't left off your e-mail on purpose, you might want to add it on! If you don't know how you can let me know in your comment and I'll see if I can help you!

Thanks so much for reading my 'Tangents'! Your comments always feel like a hug!
