Every minute of our lives is precious...

...right?

You know what I mean.

The beautiful, sad, glorious, heart-wrenching moments that make up the rich tapestry of our lives...

The minutes that stay with you...always treasured in your heart.

As I get older and go through the heartache of loss more and more...

I try to make my time count...

Which is why I have to ask myself over and over again this morning...

Why oh Why oh Why...

...did I waste so much of it watching the Hatfields & McCoys?

I know. I know.

It was supposed to be amazing.

Everybody loved it.

It was one of the most views shows on television.

We had recorded it a week ago and decided to watch it this weekend.   So we watched it.

And watched it.

And watched it.

And I kept waiting for the 'message' of it.

Waiting.

Waiting.

Wasting life moments...

Waiting.

Waiting.

In the end I realized it was about a bunch of alcoholic, self-righteous men destroying anyone and anything because...

...ummm...

...because they could.

Sigh.

Sure, there was some nice 'scenery' in the footage...I'm all about watching guys with six packs and great pecs...

...yeah...

Six packs.  Nice Biceps.

ummm...

ummm...

...what was I saying here.

Whoops.   Sorry.   Didn't mean to go off on a tangent there.

Perhaps the message was the irony of how a Man of God lost his faith in times of trouble and Man of ...ummm...not God found peace in his later years by embracing God?

So, yeah.   The beautiful, sad, glorious, heart-wrenching moments that make up the rich tapestry of our lives...

The curve of a babies cheek...

The scent of your favorite rose...

...and the spitting and killing.

For sure.

The spitting and killing on the Hatfields & McCoys is now a part of the tapestry of my life.

And I am so much the richer for it.

NOT!

Today I think it will be necessary to fill my life with wonderful moments to offset the six hours (less commercial time) that I frittered away over the weekend.

I will hug my Grandlittles close...

I will plan a trip so I can see our newest Grandlittleson...

I will tell Mr. Jenny I love him...

...and day dream of 6 packs.

Sigh...

  5. You are too funny :) From time to time I've remarked that after wasting 2 hours at a movie, I will never be able to reclaim that time and am all the more stupid for having stayed. I hate that when that happens. Cheers to the stuff that matters.

  10. I recorded the entire 6 hours to watch later, but I wonder if it's worth the bother. I believe what you're saying is that the series has no "socially redeeming value" (in 50's parlance). Thank you for warning me off before I wasted my time on it!

  11. I have it recorded, but haven't watched it yet. Now I'm having my doubts, because I know me... once I start on it, I won't give up. Like a dog with a bone. Poop, I feel a big waste of time coming on!

  14. Well, at least it got you thinking in the direction of what is valuable and precious and important to you. I hope you had many wonderful moments in your day today.

  15. You said it better than I could! I would much rather spend time with the love bugs in my life than in front of a tv screen. There's just something about knowing how precious life is. I too, am seeing people in my life pass away that I never thought I'd see. Maybe I was clueless but it is almost frightening to think that I am getting old.

  16. Perhaps it's not totally wasted if you got some relaxation and refreshment out of it.

  17. Yeah .... i didnt watch ... kinda knew it was about some old fued ... and there would be lots of killing ...that kind of ruined any surprise that could have been in the show.

  18. Well I watched it and I loved it! It all started because McCoy passed judgement upon Hatfield for being a diserter and that particular seed of hate grew bigger than life it's self. See how hate can destroy? Oh and there was way too much spittin' going on in that film! Ewah!! Now I am just getting into this new Longmire series on A&E. I don't watch a whole lot of T.V. but I enjoyed the Hatfield's and the McCoy's and the new Sheriff Longmire! I can't wait to see the new Storage Wars too!~Ames

  20. I'm betting your review was much more entertaining than the movie, so I'm not going to waste my time on it. Thanks for the laughs and for the review. laurie

  23. Oh, that last photo is priceless. :)
