Please if you are reading this from one of the many snow-laden parts of the country, forgive me for this...but I thought these pictures were so adorable and I had to share them.
Our granddaughters spent some time in the front yard yesterday under the flower laden Bradford Pear tree pretending it was snowing.
The main problem with this type of "snow" is that when you shake the tree to make it...the tree buzzes... 
And the other main problem with making "snow" like this is that the blossoms smell bad. It isn't that sweet apple blossom scent you might imagine...it is ... well... icky.And now for the sweet part.
I found these totally adorable little "sweets" and picked up a few extra to share. So I'm going to share them with one of you!
I think they are dishcloths but I'm not really sure. The top one is a cupcake and says "Sweet Treat Dischloth Gift Set" and the bottom one just says "Cake roll Gift Set". Whatever they actually are they are really, really cute. And you are all really, really sweet.So it seemed like a natural giveaway.

Well we here in southern Illinois are supposed to get five to seven inches tonight and tomorrow! I don't care as I love snow days. Your pear tree is beautiful Jenny!

I won't show the picture of the honey bee sampling nectar to my poor Italian honey bees who are clustered in a ball in their hives trying to keep from freezing on this frigid day. It's only suppose to reach 11 degrees for a high. They're grumpy as it is and as for me, I'm staring out the window at the ground dusted with white snow and I'm feeling terribly jealous. You wouldn't want to trade a little of your snow for mine would you? I wouldn't even mind that it didn't smell real pretty.

Thank you for letter me know what kind of tree I have. I would never have guessed it to be a pear tree. I have never seen any type of fruit on it. And I definitly wouldn't shake it either because I did notice TONS of bees in it. It is so funny, I told my hubby what kind of tree it was and then today 4 of our neighbors asked him what kind it was while he was outside mowing the lawn and he was finally able to answer them!

Our trees are blooming too, and they're oh so messy. It was a beautiful day here in the desert though, and I'm the snow in the local mountains looks beautiful too.

ReplyDeleteWe had Bradford Pears in Maryland at my house. First to bloom and last to lose their leaves. Gorgeous shape, fast growing. And when the petals fall, it IS like snow. It's one of the only fond memories I have of the place.... ;)
LOL, yes those Bradford pears look gorgeous, but do they ever smell bad. We have one in our front yard too.

Are the Bradford Pears blooming Now? We have a few left in our yard (others were blown down in past wind storms). I agree they stink!! Love the pictures!!Wish I had read this sooner for the give away...I am a few days behind!!
