'Twas a few days before Halloween...

and all through the house...
Things were in readiness, even the mouse...

The pumpkins were lined by the front door with care
In hopes that Trick or Treaters soon would be there ...

Wrinkled witches hands reached sneaky and slow
To grab some of the treats piled up and ready to go...

Scary pumpkin heads watched with diabolical glee
for the first sign of children....ready to flee...

And Pa in his witch hat...

And me with nails painted black...

Had just settled down for TV and a snack...

When what to did appear before our wondering eyes,
But a weiner dog dressed, in a Halloween disguise.

Oh he begged with his eyes and he howled most forlorn,
For Kit-kats, for Dots, for M&M's and candy corn.

To his great disgust we had to refuse
and when he turned around we saw he had a broom!!!!

And showing his fangs he gave us such fright...
when he barked out these words "It's almost Halloween night...

protect all the candy because I'm coming back"
And off he flew on his broom without getting a snack!

We went back in the house and were feeling quite wary.
Because it was almost Halloween and a hungry weiner dog is scary...

...and what we saw by his food dish gave us another great fright...
Ooooooh....there's nothing as scary on an almost Halloween night.

Hey....don't hate me because I'm poetic.

Sigh...

Oh...and...

BOO!!!!!

  10. Love it! That is one very tolerant dog you have there, posing for photos and allowing you to bear his teeth. He might be as distracting as a toddler when you are trying to write but he is a much more willing photographic subject :-)

  16. Good Morning Jenny Sweetie...
You are a poet and don't we just know it. I can't wait to see what you give out, to the children who stop by this Halloween night.

Oh what a precious share today, and I love this little wiener dog, broom or not, he is precious. I bet he loves it when all the kids come.

This year we are not celebrating Halloween at our home. We have always in the past, but I am just not able to enjoy it like years before. We are going to the back of the house and quietly watch this one pass us by. Still no voice to speak of, I have officially been diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia. I have what I have left, and am moving forward. I have good days and not so good days, some days more air comes out than others. We are checking into getting the insurance to cover a speaking apparatus for me. We'll see what happens.

I pray you and DH are well. Please know that you are so loved. I have been trying to visit as many blogs as I can when I sit at the computer. My legs have been giving me issues, and after a 10 hour day at work, sometimes I am not able to sit for long. I don't have a laptop. I will try to get by more often sweet friend. Just know that you are so loved and I think of you every day. You are all around me. Many hugs and SO much love, Sherry

  20. Hmm, having second thoughts about coming trick or treating to your house. Your guard witch dog might scare me off and steal my candy. She (or he?) looks determined enough to pull out all the stops!

Your house is ready, and beautiful. I can't wait until I have had a family for lots of years and thus have lots of decorations for the holidays... though I am mostly excited for the hand made ones from the little ones. :)
