Here comes the sun...

Here comes the sun...

And I say...it's all right...

...or at least it will be soon.

I'm happy.

My little darling's are coming home from vacation after almost two weeks!

Yes, I have been deep in the black pit of Grandlittlelessness. (Yes, that is so a word. Is so. Yes, huh!)

The only thing that has given me a smidgen of hope that they would return is this...

This sweet little styrofoam ball and metallic pipe cleaner sun has been 'loaned' to me by Miss Morgan.

She made it her last week of summer school.

"Gramma," she told me, big blue eyes opened wide with serious intent. "Do you want to 'borrow' my sun?"

"No, sweetie, you can just take your sun home, okay?"

"Gramma. I think you should hang the sun on your wall with your other suns. I don't know how you can hang it because it sticks out in the back!"

"Morgan, I'm sure I can figure out how to hang it...but are you sure you don't want to take it home for Mommy?"

"Gramma. I'm sure. You can borrow it for maybe...oh... 40 days and 40 nights (can you tell she goes to a Christian preschool?) ...but I might want it back then."

"Okay, Morgan. I will be happy to borrow it for 40 days and 40 nights. I will think of you whenever I look at it, okay?"

She smiled her sweet, little girl smile and wandered off to wreak destruction on the toy room.

And I have looked at it every day.

And thought how lucky we are to have these three girls active in our everyday lives.

Yes, my friends.

It's been a long, cold lonely thirteen days...

But...here comes the sun...

..and I say...it's all right...

  15. When you've got your granddaughters back can I borrow that sun? We've had rain, rain and more rain here and all weekend long it was cool (55F). There was a tease of blue sky at 0600 but it is all overcast again. We sure could use a little light and heat!

  28. Jenny I know the emptiness of being in the black pit of "Grandlittlelessness" as I am so far away from my little grandboys. I really miss them. Hopefully I see them next month!

    Enjoy your 3 sunshines!

  33. You really are too cute, Jenny! I can tell that when they return, you're going to hold on to your grandlittles and never let them go again :)

  34. I'm so glad they are coming home to brighten your days! As one who only gets to see my little people about every month or 6 weeks...I envy that you get to see yours for little bits all the time. I wish ours could just come for dinner...or go to a movie and then go home. But, at least we do get them and that is more than some. Enjoy those smiling little faces:)
