Today...

Some of my family will gather...

...and we will fill the house with the scent of cookies baking...

...and there will be flour everywhere...

...and the toy room will be trashed...

...and there will be leaves tracked up and down the hall from people going in and out from the yard...

...and we will all sample way too many sweets...

...and we will all be wrapped in nostalgia and joy and memories of cookies baked in the past...

...and we will use every dish towel in the kitchen...

...and things will be spilled...

...my counter tops will be smeared with butter and glittered with sugar...

...and when it is all over...

My heart will sigh...

...and be filled with such joy...

...and so many wishes that you are all surrounded by chaos and clatter and chatter and carbohydrates...

...on this eve of Christmas Eve.

Holidays blessings from our house to yours.

Warm hugs from Arizona,

  5. I truly believe that if we keep telling the Christmas story, singing the Christmas songs, and living the Christmas spirit, we can bring joy and happiness and peace to this world."
~ Norman Vincent Peale (1898-1993), American Protestant religious leader, author

May you hear the story, sing the songs, and feel the spirit this Christmas. Happy Holidays to all of you!

  8. With the twins running around, my house has aready been delightfully trashed. Mulligan is right in the mix, but Liz asked, "Who ARE these people???"

I thought they would be a little standoffish, since the twins don't really know us, but that was not at all the case!!

They've gone to Walmart, and I am going to lie down for a few minutes. We were up around 5 this morning (time change!!).

  15. Dear Jenny - just the way a kitchen should be at holiday time...savor every moment. You are making new memories with the grandlittles.

I finished cleaning up our own kitchen about 9:00 last night...but the cookies are done!
