Electrify me, baby...quid pro quo

So... I'm back on an acupuncture schedule.
The good thing is, it kinda/sorta self schedules for me.

The bad thing is, I kinda/sorta need to keep getting poked with needles.

I've been fooling around with some of those pesky hormonal/auto-immune things for awhile now.

Acupuncture helps...

But I'm not a big fan of it.

Mainly, because I have some weird kind of electric chi going on inside of my body.

Hey. Don't roll your eyes at me, Missy.

That's what various acupuncture people have told me over the years.

I don't know why it happens, but whenever I start getting all 'charged up' I know it's time to head to the needle person.

That sounds weird, doesn't it?

But it's true.

If I touch anything metal (or often just another person) it gives me a painful electric jolt. It's the kind of electric shock that makes you fearful to open the dairy case to get out a container of fat-free half-n-half. The kind that makes people glare at you if they touch your hand on accident. The kind that makes you fear the self check-out stand...and the grocery carts.

It's irritating.

And shocking.

So I'm heading out to get de-electrified in a little while...and dreading it.

Because although most of the needles don't hurt at all, when they put them in my hands and feet it feels like a lightening bolt shooting out...and it makes me yell.

Which is kinda/sorta embarrassing when you're in the calm, quiet of the acupuncture room.

So, here's the quid pro quo part of the post.

I always get a lot of e-mails with questions about acupuncture... I'll answer as many as I can on a blog post on Wednesday and Friday (based on my experience)...

And if you're one of those 'electrifying' people... ...would you mind sharing with me what you do about it?

I hope this isn't too shocking of a request.

PS.  Just sayin'...the new blogger post thing is really obnoxious!

  1. I am one of those people who give everyone a shock (physically, not just my electrifying personality). I can't touch my truck when I get out of it without touching something inside first or I get zapped! I don't do anything about it, should I?

  2. I AM one of those electrifying people. In fact, after getting a couple of fillings one time, I started having charges between fillings. I hadn't even gotten very far down the road and turned around and headed right back. The dentist was shocked. Said he'd only heard of that happening once. He ended up having to use something a little different, so the two different metals wouldn't touch and create a charge. Also, my mother couldn't wear a watch. She would kill it. Don't even get me going on static electricity!

  6. I've always thought you had an electric personality!!

I've never had acupuncture myself, but I know a few people who swear by it. It intrigues me so I'll be interested to read your upcoming post.

  8. You should embrace your electricifity (is that a word?) and ZAP away. Who knows what someone or something might need a jolt!

  12. The new blogger design? I switched to it awhile back, went back to the old way and then they switched me to the new blogger. Once you're used to it, it's fine.

  13. Well I am one of those electrically charged persons too. I get zapped all the time. Winter is the worst but really anytime of the year. I wear rubber soled shoes and still get zapped reaching for a can of corn in the grocery store. When we walk our dogs street light go dark as I near them. It freaks me out to the point that I carry a big flashlight with me now. I use dryer sheets and stand on a rubber backed rug in the laundry room and still get zapped. Sparks fly from my hair bush. I always try to ground myself especially when I pump gas into my car. And this is really strange, sometimes I hear a very high pitch tone in my ears and at night I can look down at the sheets and see little spark under the covers when I move my feet. So if accupuncture works for you I am game.~Ames

P.S. Maybe we are special people.

  20. Another blogger beat me to the punch of saying I always thought you were an electrifying person, soooo, that being said, I only have "sighs" for you tonight.

Anxious to hear how it all goes...
    Peace,

  21. I go through phases where I get static shocks off all sorts of stuff. I have no idea why it happens. The whole 'electrified' thing can last as long as a month and then stop all by itself - until the next round. I always wondered if the degree of static charge was in some way connected with atmospheric pressure or solar flares or... with some people being simply more sensitive to it than others.

  24. Just got back from a trip and found the new (agree obnoxious) blogger post thing...mine hop skips all over the place.

I've never tried acupuncture, although my daughter says many of her Disney co-workers swear by it. I'm not all that great with needles and actually, just thinking about it sort of freaks me out.

I have plenty of weird symptoms...but, I don't think being electrified is one of them.

  25. I have never tried acupuncture! I'm a big chicken when it comes to needles! They don't entice me, but I hope they will hep you..

  27. Why Jenny, there is NEVER a dull moment with you, is there? I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for you as you electrifying everyone. :)

Seriously, I suspect that's annoying - in addition to a bit painful.

I'll be waiting to hear about the acupuncture, too.

  28. Wow! how interesting! If it's any consolation, I'm sorry you have to go through that, but am glad that acupuncture helps you.

Hi! Thanks for leaving a comment! My handy dandy e-mail assistant always notifies me when you do and I read every single one.

I try to respond to comments with a return e-mail BUT I just noticed that I've been answering a lot of them to blogs that haven't linked their e-mail address to their Google account! I haven't been ignoring your comments, but now I know you aren't getting my reply e-mails! I'm sorry!

I know a lot of other bloggers who respond to comments via e-mail so if you haven't left off your e-mail on purpose, you might want to add it on! If you don't know how you can let me know in your comment and I'll see if I can help you!

Thanks so much for reading my 'Tangents'! Your comments always feel like a hug!
