Warm Heart Wednesday Week 9

 Week 9!
 

Happy New Year dear blog friends!

It occurred to me the other day that sometimes I am stuck in the bad...not seeing or recognizing the good as often as I should.

 

I allow myself to be filled with weight and worry and woes.

 

Not always.

 

But sometimes too often.

 

I forget to remember the wonderful small, positive things that happen each week...a card in the mail, someone holding a store door or asking where I get my hair cut, a funny little story, or a ray of sunshine warming my face.
 

Warm Heart Wednesday is for me.   To start remembering.  And to make a journal of joy.

 

I hope you will consider joining me on this adventure by sharing something that made YOUR heart warm over the past week.  I think it will be fun and uplifting to read your ongoing journals as well.

Warmed Heart Week 8

We were fortunate that with all the snow we got up here in our mountain town that our kids were unable to get to their cabin...

So they crashed for the weekend with us.

The joy of having daughter, son-in-law and 2 1/2 year old Grandson again was wonderful.

And so I had many wonderful, heart-warming moments.

It was hard to pick one...

But...

Just as we always do, we went around the dinner table sharing both our favorite part of the day and our favorite word.

I wrote last week that our Grandson consistently uses the same word.

But apparently something amazing happened here at "Maw's" house that knocked Bunny off the favorite word of the day list.

When it got to Remy's turn he shouted out two words that none of us could understand.

We asked several times and finally we got it.

His favorite word of the day was "Dust Motes".

Ummm...

"Dust Motes".

??????

And then I recalled.

While we were laying in my bed reading, Remy tapped the covers and the room filled with dust motes.

Remy was delighted so we continued to pound the covers and laugh and laugh.

Sorry Bunny.

You have been replaced by my poor housekeeping skills.

My heart is still warm from his silly little word..

And the memory of this still warms my heart and makes me smile.

Warmed Heart Week 7

There were so many wonderful, heart-warming moments over Christmas that it was hard to pick only one to share.

Oddly, this is the one that kept coming to mind.

We have a little tradition of going around the dinner table and everyone sharing their favorite part of the day.

Since our youngest Grandson, now 2 1/2, has learned to talk we've added another tradition to the tradition...

...and that is that everyone shares their favorite word of the day.

Our Grandson consistently uses the same word.  

Every single time.

Without exception.

At Christmas, though, we all thought he would pick another word.

When it was his turn to say his favorite word he held one chubby finger up to his little lips and said, "Hmmmm..."

We all tried to help him along.

"Is it the tree?"

"No," he stated firmly.   "Hmmmm..."

"Is it the family?"

"No," he repeated.   "Hmmmm..."

After a few more questions and a lot more "Hmmmmm's" he finally told us his favorite word.

With a joy filled smile he finally informed us that his favorite word of the day was...

"Bunny!"

Even though it was Christmas, he remained true to his favorite word.

And the memory of this still warms my heart and makes me smile.

Warmed Heart Week 6

My right leg has decided to not work correctly.

And I know it.

But sometimes I forget myself and I like to taunt it just a bit.

So I don't hold on.

And sometimes when I don't hold on, I fall.

Mr. Jenny has become the 'gofer' around our house for quite a few months now.   But Mr. Jenny hurt his knee badly.  

And, so, I had to do a large grocery shopping for the holidays.

When I came out to my truck I lost my balance and fell.

Ouch.

OUCH!

I was laying by the truck thinking, "Hmmm...how the heck am I going to get up?"

I finally got almost all the way to my feet and I looked at the overflowing grocery cart and almost broke into tears. 

Okay.  

Truth here.

I did break into tears.

And that's when an angel come to help me.

She did it so graciously and so kindly and so matter of fact-ly...

...that I didn't even feel ashamed...

or embarrassed.

She just did it.

She helped me to the drivers seat and then loaded all the groceries into the back seat and truck bed.

Then she waved and walked away.

 I sat in the truck for a long time thinking how fortunate I was.

And how the encounter truly warmed my heart.

And how there really, truly still are angels in this world.
