C is for Cat

Out in my little entry way,
A painted wooden cat,
Sits resting on a painted chair,
She sits so still, and that
is why I wonder often
what she does when we're not home.
Does she race through the house
chasing painted, wooden mice?
I wonder how far she roams.

  1. Very cute kitty. Still have that healing visit floating around in my mind...thinking I may have to one day make a trip out your way to visit this lady, as there are probally no Cherokee healers here in British Columbia, Canada!

  2. She looks to innocent to get into too much trouble.

  3. What a sweet kitty. And the chair she is perched on is to die for! I am sort of in love with it. And I love the line in your poem about chasing little wooden mice. So cute.

  4. Oh, she looks too cute to get in trouble. I have, however, watched toy story enough times (it's my grandson's favorite movie, over and over and over again), to know what happens when all of the humans leave the house!

  5. What a cute little chair that cat sits on!

And what a cute little poem imagines what she might be doing while her humans are away.

    =)

  6. Cute poem! Before we got a cat, I stenciled one on the wall by the front door. It made the place feel "more like home" to have a cat waiting to let out....

  7. Of course she comes to life!! Just like our toys.

  8. Hi Jenny,
I think she opens the refrigerator door looking for ice cream and cookies and then watches movies!

She then gets all snuggly on a cozy soft chair and waits til she hears someone stirring. Then she hops back on her wooden chair as though nothing ever happened! LOL.

  9. Very cute! I love the idea of a wooden cat chasing wooden mice. It reminds me a little bit of the toys in The Velveteen Rabbit.

  10. Your cat is precious, and your poem is too. You are so talented and have finally given me the opportunity to start back writing. I kept journals for years but haven;t done any in a long, long time. Your alphabet Thursday is providing me with a stage to return to doing something that means so much to me...something I love to do.
Hugs and thanks for the help with the linking issue. I saved your email like a good student putting her notes IN her notebook. Hope I will have more success for “D”.

  15. Oh how cute! Cannot believe it is Thursday, I have not created my C post yet. Watching my grand daughters at their home though so it may be a late night with the problems I have been having with blogger. Do you know why my pictures are not loading in the newer version. They worked just fine for months and then I try and upload one evening and they just spin. Back to loading one at a time. Bummed.

  23. Well behaved kitty! We have been having kitty drama, with my son's cat now living with us from Chicago, two of 'my kids' are fine, but one, a little insecure, is peeing all over the house...yikes......

  24. I notice you have a wooden floor. Must be very clattery when your wooden cat is springing and sliding and pouncing after the scurrying and scrambling little wooden mice!

  25. Oh! We like cats!! I almost did a Cat Post myself... but yours is much much better!!! Love the cute wooden cat and the poem even more!
