Man, oh man...

I had this amazing post to share with you!

In the wee hours of Sunday morning instead of waking Mr. Jenny to have a conversation, I reached in the darkness of our bedroom for a notepad and pencil on my nightstand and quickly wrote a whole bunch of brilliant, philosophical stuff about the philosophy of loss.

I tell ya. Socrates had nothing on what I came up with.

AND...

Ummm...yea...

When I actually woke up this morning and read my notes, I couldn't read a single thing I had written.

It was wonderful, though. I'm certain of that. Totally confident that it was amazing.

You would have been deeply impressed with my insight into this subject.

But alas...

After I tried without success to read my scrawls for several long moments, I feared I would have nothing of substance to post about on Monday morning...

BUT...

Then I went to the bathroom to get a drink of cold water.

And...

I realized I DID have something important to tell you about after all.

Thank heavens.

That was a close one.

So...

You know how in the morning you get a drink of water and it's all cold and you haven't drank anything since the night before...

AND...

You can feel the water going all the way down that pipe thing (what the heck is that called anyway?) that connects your mouth to your stomach...

AND...

You can feel the water go all the way down?

Isn't that a weird feeling?

...

...

Huh?

Yea, that's my substantive observation that's going to salvage my whole Monday post.

And to think I was worried for a moment that I would have nothing to write about.

...

NosirreeBob!

I would never, ever disappoint you and let you come to a bare, empty boring post for a Monday morning.

I am nothing if not devoted to you, my lovely readers.

...

Huh?

Geez, please don't carry on so much. I know how much you appreciate me.

Of course, you're welcome.

Really, really welcome.

Sigh...

Well at least you didn't post about flushing your toilet...I mean seriously, who would do that? Oh, that was me...yes - it is a weird Monday...

I like that cold feeling all the way into your tummy. It's... refreshing!

P.S. It's an esophagus!

The only thing better than that first drink of water is the first cup of coffee in the morning. I can actually feel the receptors in my brain opening with every sip :) Kat

You drink tap water? Wow.

Once I ate an ice cream sundae and I could feel the cold from the ice cream when I put my hand on my tummy. Socrates didn't even have ice cream sundaes.

Every morning, with that first drink of cold, cold water, I think to myself, this weird feeling would be perfect for Jenny to blog about! Gosh, was I surprised this morning or what?!?!?!

Esophagus...is that the word you were searching for?

If you hadn't had so many thirsty brain cells, you'd have remembered that word.

It's the best drink of the day! Happy Monday! La

I don't think Socrates would have appreciated you moving in on his philosophy gig. I'm sure he'd loved to have shared a nice beverage with you if he were around :)

You should have stuck with the scribbles on the nightstand:) Have a blessed Monday! HUGS!

Very profound Jenny...very profound :) I always look forward to what you have to say no matter what. The funny thing is...the first drink of water I had this morning got stuck in that whatever it's called and I choked a little.

You've surpassed yourself today, whatever those notes did or did not contain could surely not have been as profound as this :-)

Middle of the night scrawls. Yeah. That's what my try at writing down dreams, when I woke in the night, turned out like. :-( Useless. Maybe some can read their middle of the night dream description, but not moi.

I always think I have dreamed a Pulitzer Prize winning novel (or at least one that will make BIG BUCKS), and then I never write it down. LOL! Yes, I have those delusions (oops, I mean MOMENTS) of grandeuer, too! ;-)

Hope you are having a good day. And no, the baby is not up for grabs unless you want to fight her daddy who is a fireman for her! Those guys have pickaxes, so it is not highly recommended.

Love you...

XO,

Sheila :-)

You are the cutest.
And yes, I know the feeling very well. ;)

After reading your Monday post I jumped right up and had a long cold glass of pure well water - and got the worst brain freeze since I sipped my daughter's Big Gulp once, years ago.

Is it Monday? Really? Og geez I am going to be really late today. Oh well.

It's the esophagus.I have noticed it too. You must be in tune with your body. I've also noticed how a shot of whiskey burns all the way to the stomach as well.

I think I'd rather drink tap water than a can of soda. Did you know that soda pop can eat away corrosion from a car battery? Makes you wonder what it's doing to your insides. :o

Have a great Monday!~Ames

I love that feeling of the liquid going down your throat and then into your stomach....makes you know you are still alive and breathing!

I just got back from my show in New Jersey and the leaves up there were amazing! I am SO tired!

Jenny Girl what would I do without you to make my day brighter!!

You're crazy, Jenny, but you crack me up!

I will say when you can feel water go all the way down it is the best and weirdest feeling. ;D

Even better is that first sip of wine. You can feel it's relaxation all the way out to your fingertips...Thanks for sharing your deep philosophical thoughts with us. A day without Jenny in the morning is a sad day indeed. (No pressure there...just, you know, telling you...)

I love when you drink a ton of water, how you can hear it sloshing around inside you when you jump up and down! Good times!

I totally appreciate this post, as I have the same feeling!! I also keep a glass of water on my window sill, in front of the slightly open windo, so that if I get thirsty in the night, it's nice and cold and ready to go!!

Weird, quirky things...

I'm so sorry that your deep thoughts were lost. I'll bet they were really insightful!

I don't know that I've ever had fabulous philosophical thoughts in the middle of the night. Last night, I was awakened by my husband's pager (he was on call, he works at a hospital). I sat straight up and mumbled something that even I knew was incoherent. I'm afraid to ask him if he remembers what I said!

I can't remember the last time I had a drink of cold water in the morning, but I sure do enjoy my morning coffee!

RE: Email. I do have my email address posted on my blog (thisstopwilloughby@yahoo.com), but I'm not sure how to make a direct link since I use Yahoo and not Gmail. I'm technical like that!

I wish I had sense enough to keep a notepad and pen beside me at all times. Sometimes I think of wonderful things and never write them down, then when I want to remember I can't. At least you scrawled something, unfortunate as it is to be unreadable, but it's something. My thoughts completely go to waste.

I love the feeling of the cold water hitting my tummy - I can feel it going all around. But I would never think of blogging about it. You are brilliant!

Susan Anderson said...

I feel ya.

And have you ever noticed how sweet that water tastes? (And I mean sweet in the sugary sense.)

Or is that just me?

=)

Sue said...

Why is it that I immediately had a song in my head..."just another manic Monday..."?

I don't like cold water, it hurts when I drink it. I keep a bottle at room temperature near the bed.

Thanks for being as refreshing as that first drink of cold water in the morning.

That drink of water is almost as good as the first pee.

I totally know that feeling - SO very glad you didn't forget what you were going to write!! :)

I know I can visit your blog and come away smiling. :)

I hate when I have those brilliant middle of the night ideas that are lost or illegible! You did come up with a great substitute!

I hate drinking water in the mornings. Feels horrible (too cold) and because of the morning breath it tastes awful. But that is just me.

And I feel so enlightened because I visited! Thank you for that. I never leave disappointed. You are the fount of all things worth knowing. that's why I keep you on my speed dial, er, email.

You did it again!!!! Laughing aloud here...all by myself! (I am off today from the dental office :o) I should be completing some drawing orders...but had to stop and "smell the roses"...um, I mean get an awesome dose of Jenny-ism.

Blessings & Aloha!
(My dad is having to get more tests done and see about the best course of action for blockages in his arteries. God is good all the time...thank you also for giving the blogging world a smile...)

I've had a friend to stay and I'm playing catch-up and I'm reading the comments on this post and I come to the second comment telling you the tube thingy is called an esophagus and I'm really beginning to jump up and down and twitch because I did Biology way back beyond the beginning of time, and I know that it's NOT an esophagus, so eventually, I Google it and this is what I find (you can take a breath now by the way)

'Many words are written with ae/æ or oe/œ in British English, but a single e in American English.'
and guess what, one of the examples given is OESOPHAGUS!

Sorted :)
