So...let's chat a little bit about my A-T rant...

Class. Just so everyone is totally clear to totally clarify the little hissy fit I put on the AT "E" post yesterday. I have since removed it.

Can you all just take a moment and read this. Start to finish? Please.

Here are the RULES for AT. Yea, yea, I know rules were made to be broken but I'm old. I'm tired. My foot hurts. My coffee is too strong. AND I'm having a bad hair day. So follow the rules or go away.

1. You must, at some point in your post, tie it to the current letter. Please read my Elephant post today as an example.

2. You must, at some point in your post, show a link-back to Alphabe-Thursday. This is not for my own pathetic attempt at fame (ha, that made me laugh). It is so others participating can easily manipulate the return to that weeks linky. You can put the little picture linky in there, or you can put a hyper link in there, but link back YOU MUST!

3. You must cross your heart and hope to try to visit and comment on ten other blogs for the week. If you are typing your post with a pencil in your teeth because you are a paraplegic you can visit nine.

If you haven't been doing this, just start now. No harm no foul. If you already did it this week, no harm no foul.

If you don't know HOW to do this, e-mail me your question. Leave me a comment with your question AND I'll try to help you.

I'm just being like Aretha here. OK?

I just want a little respect for the meme and for the people who link in good faith.

So...please sing along with this little ditty...

R - E- S - P - E - C - T

Just a little bit.
Just a little bit.

Thanks!

PS. Oh, most of you AT'ers are soooo sweet. The ones of you that e-mailed me are never the problem.

I will leave you with this last little thought.

ummm...

Never mind.

I don't have a last little thought.

Be a rebel elsewhere. Just follow the meme rules and we will have happy-happy-joy-joy in Alphabe-Thursday land once again.

Yes Ma'am I promise to be a good student.
As the mother of 5 teenagers I know it is no fun to enforce the rules, but I also know everyone is happier when I do. And so will all of your students!
love ya Mrs. Jenny!

You mean I missed all the excitement?

Oh dear, Jenny. I hope I'm not one of the ones you are ranting at! I'm just getting around to visit the other Alphe-Thursday posts today because I had so many other non-Cyberspace responsibilities yesterday. And, after all, today is still Thursday. :)

:) Will do! only if you come over and join my giveaway! (hehe just kidding, or am I? {wink})

Jenny, I respect you for doing this. I participate in a lot of memes, and I'm proud you have made this a requirement. GOOD FOR YOU! Why do a meme if you don't plan to visit people or don't visit people who come to visit you??? I've never understood that.

And I don't blame you for ranting. I tried to read it, but I was having computer issues last night, and for some reason the rant was behind the background of your blog... so I was unable to see the whole thing. LOL!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Now, if someone has a sign on their blog that says they can't or if you know they can't in adavance, that's one thing. But for the rest of us who are participants, then I think this is fair. :-)

And it's your meme, and you can do what you want! LOL! Is that a song by some rock group???

I didn't miss the rant. I read it and raced straight to the linky list to start making comments. A good telling off always makes me feel guilty, whether or not! I think this week should be E is for EEEEEEEK!!

I read the rant...but my knuckles weren't whacked with a ruler...I thought they would be because I took 2 numbers...seems that the first time I tried to linky, my website thingamajiggy didn't all fill in...so when I went to go over to ME it said PAGE DOESN'T EXIST...and i knew it did...so, alas, I tried to fix it and got a new number...sorry sorry sorry...
I read more than the required 10...there are some very interesting posts out there...and I get some very good comments on mine...so I like to reciprocate...

I loved your rant yesterday! I will say that the Alphabe-Thursday group is by far the BEST group for participating fully. Usually, it's folks like me who (usually) link up at 11:59 on Thursday who don't get visited by very many people. I think it's just because everyone has "moved on" already. Truly, though, I've participated in other link parties and had not one visitor! (Of course, if they had a scary mean teacher at those other parties, things might be different)

I thought you were right on. Your readers are know for being great commenters. I think it is important that everyone benefits from their comments or at least 10.

Paraplegics only have to visit 9...you crack me up. I am rarely one to break the rules...Man, I need to sometime eh? But for now, thanks for letting us participate in class!

Yes MAM! Truly, when I was participating in AT, I felt like everyone truly tried to visit as many as possible. Heck, some week I even visited every single link. And I'm glad I did, because I found some really great new blogs this way. I haven't been able to join this go round due to time constraints, but I still try to visit some of the links as best I can, because they are just too much fun. And as Sheila said, it's your meme, you can fun it however you want :) Kat

Kat said...

Oops, that was supposed to be "run" it however you want. Although I guess fun was just a Freudian slip on my part :) Kat

You are very consistant and persistant and I respect that . Gosh I don't think I could keep track of such a big meme like yours . I don't know what happened to last week letter D comments but I distinctly remember leaving comments on certain blogs but they don't seem to have posted . oh well . I appreciate your insistance about this . I've been involved with other memes and it bothered me that I never got one comment from anyone :( . I respect this rule and your meme for that .

I missed a rant?? May I please read it? Please? I've been so waiting for you to pull the unruly students into line. Yeah, I'm a perfectionist, but not following clearly stated rules just pisses me off. It's the mean scary (very real) teacher in me...and no offense meant to said unruly students. I've enjoyed your work anyway...;-)

Oh you're so strict- you make me long to wear my top button undone, roll my skirt back over ten times and sway down the corridor chewing gum with a smack, smack, smack of the lips!!! But I won't- not as a so far straight A student, ha ha !

Oh boy. I read your rant yesterday and looked and wow there were a bunch of post already, and I said "what the hay? Today is Wednesday." So,....I got busy thinking and thinking and thought what could I possibly come up with for E?

When I logged on today, Thursday, to post my contribution I was shocked to see that I am post number 71. Wow!

So I hope your rant does the trick or else no one will get all the way down to reading post #71 (my post sniff, sniff it's lonely down here.) ~ Ames

I'm with RMWoman. Miss one day, and I miss the rant.
I didn't read it, but I will admit a little guilt here. For weeks B and C I truly did not have time to visit other blogs. Ouch. Does that mean the ruler was meant for my knuckles? I've been a good commenter every other time, and I've been participating since O.
Please forgive me.
I truly enjoy your meme, and you have the nicest people in cyber land. Truly.

btw: a paraplegic can usually use his or her arms. We don't want to be slapped by the teacher for being inaccurate.

I just love your meme. Like others, I've participated in some that the host doesn't even comment and there aren't near as many entries as you. I feel bad I don't get to them all, but I try to do as many as possible. Glad you are such an awesome teacher!

Thanks for all your kind comments, Jenny. Yes, I've written for newspapers before, but usually more serious stuff! nick

A good teacher must be a little stern sometimes. You are just asking that we follow the rules, no big deal. Do I sound like I'm trying to be the teachers pet?

Do you like apples by any chance?

I haven't had much time to read blogs or participate lately, but when I did do Alphabe-Thursday I tried to visit as many as I could because it was fun to see what other people came up with each week. I have to admit that after a while I started skipping some. If I arrived at a blog and couldn't figure out within a few minutes if the person really was participating in Alphabe-Thursday I left without comment. Yes, the link would be on your blog, but the post sometimes didn't seem like a post for Alphabe-Thursday at all. Then I'd see a long list of parties that they were participating in and this one post was for all of them. Sometimes it was hard to figure out how it fit in with Alphabe-Thursday. So, I just made the decision to skip those and move on to the next link. There were always others to read. :) You do a great job Jenny and I'm sorry I missed the rant.

I will follow the rules. I will follow the rules. I will follow the rules.

I have to admit, there were a letter or two where I did the minimum visits too because of time issues. I will try harder from now on and not get in trouble anymore. I'm getting a little tired of being sent to the principal's office :)

I missed the rant, but from what I see today, it must have been a fairly reasonable rant. Why would any of us post if we didn't want to link and have comments on our posts and then comment on others? It's a mystery.

Be afraid, be very afraid. You must obey the rules or Miss Jenny will come after you. That's all I can say right now I have to go leave comments on other blogs. Happy Halloween everyone,

Anne-Marie :-)
