"Pardon me," said Tom T. Urkee (Saturday Centus)

The prompt for this week is bolded!
Jenny Matlock

"Pardon me," said Tom T. Urkee,
As he blinked his beady eye,
"What is that I see behind you?
What is that I think I spy?"

"It is nothing, Mr. Urkee!"
Was my swift and sure reply.
"There is nothing in my hands,
There is nothing that you spy."

"Pardon me," said Tom T. Urkee,
"Perhaps it's rude but I must ask."
And he stretched his neck out longly,
and then he spied my shiny axe.

"Pardon me, my succulent friend.
Yes, that is an axe you spy.
Thanksgiving is coming very quickly,
so I must bid you goodbye."

Watch out! The turkey's got a gun! I swear it was self defense. LOL! Oh Jen, this was simply marvelous! You outshone us all with your wonderfully funny and brilliant piece! I really felt for poor old Tom (not sure why) and loved what you did with the prompt!

Great use of the prompt Jenny! This made me laugh out loud - it has kind of a twisted Dr. Seuss feel to it. Loved it. And as much as I groaned when I first read the prompt, it has turned out to be a really fun one! Kat

What fun! Wish print media still used such fun pieces, not many do.

Poor old Tom -- he was so hoping that Pork E. Pig would be invited to your thanksgiving table instead!

I didn't see the pun when I first read the prompt. It was only after I'd posted mine (and I'll admit, it took some time to figure out how to use that, excuse me but, clunker of a prompt in my serial murder tale) that I realized the play in words. This little ditty of yours is wonderful. And like Kat said, a bit Dr. Suess. (One could do worse than be compared to his genius;-) Keep challenging us my friend!

Hi Jenny Sweetie...
Oh my gosh, you are so stinkin cute. I love, love, love this little poem of yours. How creative you are with the pen and the keyboard. I can see little Tom now.

See Tom Run.
Run Tom Run.
Tom can run fast.
Poor Tom, Jenny has an axe.

Oh Jenny. I love it when you write. Hope you and your family are ready for the holidays. They are coming SO fast. I would still love to get together for a lunch. I go back to work tomorrow. This time with Momma has gone fast. She left this morning on a plane, and is now safely home with Daddy. I miss her horribly.

Many hugs to you sweet friend, and SO much love, Sherry

Poor Tom! Poor, poor, Tom! He knew what you were up to all along! He may be stupid enough to stand out in the rain and drown, but he would recognize that ax anywhere!

I just posted my story. Please come by and check it out.

You're so clever, Jenny. Poor Tom. If only he could fly away.
Happy turkey time. xo

Jenny, This is so wonderful. I love Tom's imperious attitude in the face of his sure demise! I'm going to read it to the older grandchildren!

Thanks for another gem..........cj
