Sundays with Steve - I'll be a standing on a corner...

These Sunday's segments are written by my husband, Mr. Jenny. Here's what he has to say about his posts:

I’ve been writing these weekly stories about life in Northern Idaho, as a youngster and as growing into a young man, primarily for our family. And I'm delighted to share them with you. Just between us, I’m anticipating being cranky when some whipper-snapper who may not even be born yet harasses me in 30 years or so with 'Grandpa, tell me about when you were a boy.' That will probably be after the mad cow disease has set in and erased whatever memory is left. So these are the not-so-dramatic adventures of a Baby Boomer in the 1950s, 60s and 70s.

Standing on a corner...

Sunday story? Thanks for taking a peek, but not this week.

There’s a wedding anniversary to celebrate, and Mrs. Steve and I are getting out of town for a couple of days to do just that.

If you want to drop by for coffee, if you happen to be in the neighborhood this weekend, here’s where we'll be.

This is a great old hotel on the national historic register, the La Posada in Winslow, Arizona. We’ve been wanting to visit it for some time. It was built in 1929 by the Santa Fe Railroad, and the current owners began restoring it about 10 years ago.

And it’s located on Route 66. In Winslow, Arizona. You remember Winslow don’t you, from The Eagles song?

Well, I'm a standing on a corner
in Winslow, Arizona
and such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin' down to take a look at me

We’ll be back next week.

PS. Note from Mrs. Steve. Yeah, buddy. It's our Anniversary. There better not be any flatbed Ford girl looking from you, buster!

Hi! Thanks for leaving a comment! My handy dandy e-mail assistant always notifies me when you do and I read every single one.

I try to respond to comments with a return e-mail BUT I just noticed that I've been answering a lot of them to blogs that haven't linked their e-mail address to their Google account! I haven't been ignoring your comments, but now I know you aren't getting my reply e-mails! I'm sorry!

I know a lot of other bloggers who respond to comments via e-mail so if you haven't left off your e-mail on purpose, you might want to add it on! If you don't know how you can let me know in your comment and I'll see if I can help you!

Thanks so much for reading my 'Tangents'! Your comments always feel like a hug!
