Alphabe-Thursday Letter H

Good morning class. Welcome to round six of Alphabe-Thursday!

Today we will be happily discussing the letter:

I hope the Linky Tool works better this week.   I checked from several different computers and could see it clearly.  I don't really understand what was happening with that.   Fingers crossed this week will be smooth sailing.  We have our Grandlittles for a few days and I don't know how often I'll be on my e-mail BUT if you have a problem linking can you e-mail me the correct URL (so I can link it here for you)  E-mail addy is  jennymatlock at cox dot net and please put 'ALPHABE-THURSDAY HELP!' in the subject line so I don't miss that you're having a problem.

Please link directly to your Alphabe-Thursday URL (if you don't know how to do this let me know!) and please continue to visit the five links before and after your link and leave a comment. Minimum of 10 links visited please. You can visit more if you like, of course.

I am starting visiting the F's now.   Geez.   I'm really sorry I'm so behind.   Thank you sincerely for your patience with me.

If you have any difficulties with your link, please make sure to include the number of the link when you e-mail me. It is really difficult for me to find you easily otherwise.

If you have any questions about Alphabe-Thursday or problems doing your link just post it in a comment or send me an e-mail. I'll do my best to help you as quickly as I can.

The McLinkey will be live from 1:00 pm MST time Wednesday afternoon in an effort to assist our lovely "friends across the pond" and continue through 10:00 am MST time Friday morning!

And remember.... link back to this post, you need to be registered as a follower of my blog, PG posts only, and visit at least 10 other students (perhaps the 5 students before and after your post). The links will stay live after the final post deadline has passed so you can even wait and visit over the weekend or whenever you have more time.

Please hop over and post your letter "H" now!

Getting Toasted in 2013

I have this very odd sensation on my butt.

I can't quite place it.

Hmmm...

Oh.

Wait!

It's sitting on the chair by my computer!

(hee hee)

It's been a while.

I'm slowly coming by to visit and catch up!   I hope you are all well and enjoying the clean(ish) slate of a New Year.

And speaking of clean slates, I wanted to tell you a little tip I learned about tortillas.

Hmmm...

What?

You don't see that as a natural segue in this post?   Slate?   Tortillas?

Okay.

Yeah, I see your point.  That was a bit of a stretch.

Obviously it's not only my desk chair that has fallen into disuse during my limited computer time.

But, anyway...

You know how you take tortillas and put them in the oven to crisp them?

Or fry them on top of the stove in a little vegetable oil?

Or cook them right on your gas burner to char them?

Or lay them on the flat top burner of your stove and...

WAIT!   WAIT!   Don't do that last one!   It's a bad, bad, bad idea.

However,

...do you know you can put a tortilla in the toaster and it works GREAT!?!

If you just need a few for a meal and don't want to fire up the big oven and/or deal with the whole pan/charring mess, this little tip works like a charm.

If your tortillas are super thin, you can put two together in the slot.

You can see them puff up and then get toasted into yummy little blisters of flavor.

They taste hot and fresh and yummy and they work great for a quick sandwich or as an addition to a meal.

Try it and let me know what you think.

If you're Empty Nesters like Mr. Jenny and me, it's a simple way to deal with the small quantities required for mealtimes.

Yeah.

I know.

I'm a genius.

And... you're welcome.

(hee hee)

I hope you enjoy getting toasted in the New Year!

And I'm hoping to be back on a more regular basis.

I'm thinking sitting at my desk chair might constitute exercise of some kind.

And I'm all for that in the New Year, too!

Revolution

My apologies to the Beatle's for this bad rendition of one of their songs.   This post is linked to week 140 of Saturday Centus.   To read other offerings, just click here.  The four letter prompt is in bold.

You say you want a resolution…
…well you know…
We all want to change our life.
It’s not just old age constitution…
…well you know…
It’s hard to live with stress and strife.
Doctors say they have a real solution
…well you know
Prescription peace is never a plan.
They ask me for insurance contribution...
but don’t you know I’m fine the way I am.
They say pills’ll change my constitution.
…well you know.
Sometimes I think I’d like to change my head.
but then I remember the resolution…
is to change the way I think instead.

Painted Alphabet Letter G

Good Golly.

How did it get to be 2013?

How can things STILL be busy?   It feels almost like Christmas was a few weeks ago.

Oh well.

Even in spite of New Year busy I have a few signs to share with you.

AND...

Our oldest Grandlittle has a few signs to share with you.

She has taken up painting.

I keep reminding her to have 'patience' while she's working.

I think her patience is paying off because these turned out super cute.

The first two are 92% Grandlittle Julia and 8% Grandma assistance.  Pretty good for her first time painting.

12" x 12"

I really like this one.

15" x 16"

And this castle one is quite different.

16"  x 19"

These are all hand-painted and available in my Etsy shop...you can see the mini link at the top right of my blog or click on any picture for a link!  No stickers...no stencils...my designs (and my Grandlittle's, too!)

This post is linked to Alphabe-Thursday's Letter G.   To read other G offerings, just click here.

Thanks for stopping by!

Alphabe-Thursday Letter G

I HAVE RELINKED THE LINKY DEVICE. I DON'T KNOW IF THAT WILL CORRECT THE PROBLEM SOME OF YOU ARE HAVING. I CAN SEE AND CONNECT TO THE LINKS JUST FINE, BUT SOME OF YOU CANNOT. IT APPEARS IT IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE. LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN NOW SEE THE LINKY?

Good morning class. Welcome to round six of Alphabe-Thursday!

Today we will be gathering links for the letter:

Please link directly to your Alphabe-Thursday URL (if you don't know how to do this let me know!) and please continue to visit the five links before and after your link and leave a comment. Minimum of 10 links visited please. You can visit more if you like, of course.

I also want to let you know that each week I visit every blog. I am only halfway through reading the "E" links so I'm definitely behind.  My Grandlittle's don't go back to school until  next week so I may not get caught up until then!

Please gallop over and post your letter G now!

Oh no! Sniff! Sniff!

Mr. Jenny and I babysat our Grandlittle's on Monday.

When we met up with their Mom to send them home, I decided to be a little silly.

"Oh, Oh!"  I cried in a distressed voice.  "I won't be seeing you until next year!   Oh!  Oh!  I am so sad!"

The girls got into the act and we all started hamming it up pretty well out in the parking lot of the sub shop where we meet.  Actually, my daughter-in-law hid in the car and pretended not to know us, I think!

Sigh...

But...

Even Mr. Jenny even got into the act, pretending to cry with great dramatics, "Oh no!  Oh no!   We won't see each other until next year!"

The youngest granddaughter stopped in the midst of the silliness and threw her arms up in the air.

"Wait!   Wait!" she yelled.  "Just wait a second!  What are we doing?   Isn't this supposed to be HAPPY New Year?"

Ahhhh.

She's right.

It is supposed to be HAPPY New Year!

And we are.

And I hope you are, too.

Happy.

And...

Finding ways to survive all the icky in your life without getting consumed by it.

Being joyous in spite of circumstances.

I saw the coolest quote the other day.

To paraphrase it...

"I'm not smiling because my life is perfect...I'm happy because I'm surviving my life."

Here's wishing you smiles and joy for 2013 no matter what you're surviving!

AND...

I'm so, so glad I got to see you next year!

Yay for me.
