Another unrecognized technological breakthrough...

Before I tell you about this, though, I have a brief quiz for you.

Quit groaning.

It's Monday.

You should be all fresh and sassy from a weekend laying around the pool while your maid/butler caught up the laundry, cleaned the house and pre-cooked all the meals for the week.

So...

Take a good look at this picture and then it will be time for the quiz.

To answer the quiz question from the graphic...

Is the answer:

a) Al has way more lipstick on then Jenny
b) Al has a way better hair stylist then Jenny
c) Al and Jenny both need to do something about those bags under their eyes or...
d) All of the above.

The correct answer is...

Oh, who cares!

How can I care about something as trivial as this when I am presently following in Al's footsteps.

I just realized it earlier today and I am just sick about it.

You know how Al says he invented the internet and everyone made fun of him?

I think that is going to be happening to me next.

Because...

Because...

Well...

I invented texting language.

I did.

Did so!

I thought of it this weekend when I was visiting Alphabe-Thursday links.

Waaaaaayyyy back when I graduated from High School in ummm.... 1974 is when I invented it.

Because I am a genius (just like Al) I took my very creative mind and combined it with my natural ability to do ... ummm.... smart things...

And invented it. It's true. I have proof.

I'm working on finding my yearbook and then you will believe me! I'm sure they can do carbon dating or something on the pages to ascertain the time frame when it happened.

Here's an example of something I wrote:

2 GR8 2 B 4gotten.

See?

Text language!

Here's another one:

U R my friend 4Ever.

OK, that second example was suspiciously like the first example but this is just a small sampling of the genius that I wrote in yearbooks as FAR BACK AS 1974.
That is ... ummm... ummm.... Carry the one, subtract the seven... ummm...
36 years ago? Huh?

Wait a second. I'm sure that math is wrong. Let me get a piece of paper.

...

...

...

How can that be possible?

Did they even have anything more complicated back in that stone age then a PONG game?

Well, that doesn't matter.

The fact is I have PROOF that I invented texting language.

And I suspect my lawyer wouldn't want me to be showing all my Exhibit A's and stuff on my blog so you'll have to just take my word for it and use those two examples to illustrate my genius.

BTW...

(did you see that? I probably invented BTW back then as well. As soon as I find my yearbook I'll know sure)

BTW, do you know any good lawyers for this type of thing?

I need a really good one.

Not the one that Al used.

Sigh...

PS. Yes, I know. That whole rumor was taken out of context about Al, but I'm using it anyway. So there.

PPS. If you read Sundays with Steve on August 15 you may find out how Al originally came up with the idea for the internet in the first place.

Pong? I'm laughing myself silly here. I remember when that hit the market. Can you believe that we actually thought it was a techno breakthrough? Personally, I was happy to wait a couple of years until Space Invaders came along. Thanks for the morning laugh, I have a feeling it's going to come in handy today.

LOL! I loved Pong. I could play it for hours.

Do you remember writing on snail mail "SWAK"? I would do that. Do you think I could get in on your texting patent?

I loved Pong and I think AL has much more lipstick on than you do~!~

SWAK....that makes me giggle..I so remember and how many times I wrote on my Blue Blinder in my own language...probably so Mom and Dad could not figure it out!!!

I'm learning texting language to keep up with your invention! Some just flied over my head :-)

I believe you and Al both because I'm gullible that way, but I think you are better looking....and definately smarter.

So you're the one responsible. It takes me 10 times longer to figure out what the letters stand for then if they'd just written it all out. Have a good week. Jan

Jenny, I hate to burst your bubble, but I have my mother's high school autograph book (from waaaay before anyone was writing on anyone's wall) and in 1944 some of those convent girls were texting.

I am not sure what Pong is but it must be some electronic game or does it have to do with drinking way too much beer????

Since you're all about clean language, WTH came up with the swears? OMG! Don't tell me U did those 2?

ROTFLMAO!! OK, but 2 cute 2B 4gotten was mine back in the 60's! So there!

Tee Hee ..when you were graduating high school I was getting married, so imagine how old I feel!

I totally believe you invented text messaging, Jenny...I still can't figure out what all those abbreviations mean :)

Kim Lehnhoff said...

I don't text. I don't even use the really popular acronyms in online chat all that much (an occasional LOL, but that's about it).

Let me just say that I am relieved that your similarity to Al wasn't related to requesting "extra services" during personal massages.

Did you invent "ikr" (I know, right) - can you get rid of it, and erase it from my granddaughter's head? It's just weird.

I have some bad news Jenny. I've been studying my mom's yearbook from 1957 and I believe she might have invented text language. Your evidence looks remarkably similar to hers. Although she didn't write those things in her yearbook, her friends did. Hmmmm......maybe she doesn't have a case either. :)

I had the original pong game still in the box, until it vanished when we moved five years ago. darn movers!

This post is terrific...made me laugh so hard. How do you think of all the things you think of. You are great writing posts.

I do not text but my son emails me text messages from his phone, now I know who to contact if I cannot understand his messages. LOL You are a hoot sweet lady.

As for you and Al Gore...no contest there of any kind you are much more good looking than he. No way to compare the two of you!

Hugs

I think he does have on more lipstick than you do. Hmm...I got a little stuck on that 1974 date. You see, I really like for my bff to be older than me and I don't know if I can get past that 2 years younger thing!

So you invented texting language, eh? My son and all of his teenage friends thank you. I have no idea why they would rather text each other than talk, but that's what they do. Now I can blame you! lol, jk!!
