Warmed Heart Week 21

In the wayyyyy back of the freezer in the garage, I found them.

They looked a little bit frost-bitten, but I didn't care.

Mr. Jenny and I had picked these little gems of berries at great personal peril...

Ruining several pairs of shorts...

And coming down with a bad case of 'Berry-Berry' all over our arms and legs.

I thought we had eaten them all in muffins and pies!

But I was wrong!

There were four cups of the dark purple jewels just waiting to be turned into a cobbler for some company we had coming to visit.

Black raspberries.

Not blackberries.

Not raspberries.

Black raspberries.

They grow wild here in patches up around 6,500 feet elevation.

Mr. Jenny and I picked and picked last year and are planning to do it with wild abandon again this year!

Black raspberries.

My, oh my.

The only bad thing about making a black raspberry cobbler for house guests is that there is a good possibility they will never leave.

At least until they find out the freezer is empty.

Warm Heart Wednesday Week 21

Week 21

It occurred to me the other day that sometimes I am stuck in the bad...not seeing or recognizing the good as often as I should.

I allow myself to be filled with weight and worry and woes.

Not always.

But sometimes too often.

I forget to remember the wonderful small, positive things that happen each week...a card in the mail, someone holding a store door or asking where I get my hair cut, a funny little story, or a ray of sunshine warming my face.

Warm Heart Wednesday is for me.   To start remembering.  And to make a journal of joy.

I hope you will consider joining me on this adventure by sharing something that made YOUR heart warm over the past week.  I think it will be fun and uplifting to read your ongoing journals as well.

Warmed Heart Week 20

We found the rusty bike wheels at a junk yard that has since gone out of business.

We found the rusty metal cans in the desert.

We found the handyman willing to build both of our garden plots for a donation to the food banks.

This is our West garden.

We have marked each of the 6' square plots with tin cans.

Multiple bright happy colors of chalk marker features silly names thought of by Grandlittles, Mr. Jenny and other garden friends.
The names on the plots are things such as:
Lettuce Be
Lettuce Be
Lettuce Be
Lettuce Be...

Art. E Choke

The Cruciferous Crowd

and 24 Carat.

However.

We're all stumped on the sign for the Onion plot, though.

None of us can think of anything clever for the onions.

If you can think if something, I will reward you with a prize.

And even if you can't...

Thanks for letting me share 1/2 of our garden with you.

Planting always warms my heart.

Warmed Heart Week 19

She brought a cake.

She is 11 years old and she brought a cake to Easter.

Without being asked.

When I asked her why she said, "You always make all the food, Grandma, so I thought I'd bring a cake."

It was blue.

With vanilla icing.

Eleven years old and she brought a cake.

I'm still smiling.

Warmed Heart Week 18

It's been kind of a bleh day...

After a kind of bleh week...

In pretty much of a bleh month...

I started a clinical trial several weeks ago and am still fighting the medication headache...

and...

and...

Well.   All kinds of stuff that is making me feel...

BLEH!

BUT!!!!

Today I got a dose of some perfect medicine.

And my heart is feeling all cozy and warm and there's a silly smile plastered on my face.

It's because of

WARM HEART WEDNESDAY!

Seriously.

I'm not being self-congratulatory but...

I'm a bit behind on reading so today I read weeks 14 and 15...

AND IT WORKED!

I no longer feel bleh.

Sure, I still have a headache but now I have a lot of fun, funny and sweet stories floating around in my head WITH my headache.

And I thank all of you who shared yourself.

You are a perfect medicine for me today!

Bleh BeGone!
