Thankful B - Giveaway Winner

This round of the alphabet I want to share what I'm thankful for.   I might throw a sign or two in when I can as well.  I'm also announcing the winner of last weeks giveaway!   I will be having another giveaway for the letter "C" next week, so I hope you can stop by!

I am thankful I have the Blessing of living in an electronic age.

As the time draws closer for all of our Granddaughter to move to Dublin, I console myself with the fact that we will be able to see their beautiful faces and converse with them.

Our son is heading 'across the pond' now.  He will scope out the new job and hopefully find a new house and schools.

And hopefully the Blessings of living in an electronic age will help him with his choices...I can imagine him showing his wife and family house and neighborhood tours so they can make the choice of where to live!

In the meantime, Mr. Jenny and I work to contain our shock and to treasure more than ever before every single moment we get with our precious Granddaughters.

In the spirit of the move, last week I offered up this beautiful leather bracelet for a giveaway.

Random org generator informed me that the winner of this bracelet is:

Jenny, I started skyping with Austin when he was 5 weeks old and talked to him every week. When I got to Texas he knew my voice and is comfortable with me. I haven't lost the connection. Now, when are you going to visit Ireland? xo Jenny

You have really been on my mind and in my heart. I've been so depressed about my daughter and my grands moving and then I read about yours. Now I'm thankful mine will still be in Texas!

All the way across the pond? That is hard for you! I bet they are excited for the new adventure, though. Congrats to the lucky winner!

You know in some way your son is lucky to work in an English speaking country in Europe ! Imagine your grandlittles being in a country where there won't understand a word and they couldn't even ask for an information ! Then it would be even harder to get used to !
At least they have the choice of a school, in other countries you have to look for an English teaching school and have to pay horrendous fees ! And learning how to live in another country is always a +

I have missed an awful lot over the past two months, so didn't know about this move for your son and your granddaughters. Thank goodness for Skype - we have used it all these years that the grandchildren have been far away. It makes the separation a little easier, but it's always hard to say goodbye.
I have missed alphabe-Thursday, and hope to start up again this week.

I have to agree it's nice to live in this electronic age. I certainly feel blessed for all my Internet friends.

I feel your pain of missing your family! I think of the pioneer times when people would move away and perhaps never be seen again. I cannot even imagine.
Thank goodness for the electronic age!

Congratulations to Janie!

Oh dear, it sounds like a lot has been going on while I've been gone. Oh yes, you'll be able to easily keep in touch with all the technology today. When we lived overseas from 1968-1971 we only spoke to our parents once or twice a year and then it had to be short and sweet due to the cost. We wrote letters. (Gosh, sounds like the dark ages now.) I know you're going to miss them, but what a wonderful experience they're going to have.

Jenny, what part of Ireland are they moving to? My sister-in-law is from County Cork.

Congrats to your bracelet winner!

I loved your Thanksgiving post! Such beautiful prose. Your grandson is absolutely adorable!

That will be an adventure for them and a bit of a heartbreak for you, I'm sure. Okay, a LOT of a heartbreak. But you are right; Skype will help to save the day.

Hugs.

Congrats to Janie!

And you are so right... the ability to communicate across the miles is such a wonderful blessing of this time we live in.

You might also try a bit of a jaunt over there yourself for some travel blogging? :)

So how long will it be before you hop a plane to visit?!?

I know... easier said then done, but work on it. :)

You are so right about "the electronic age" and the impact it will have on your family. That should really help you all out. Hang in there Jenny!

Congrats to the winner!
