Where were you when the
world stood still?
In that moment the world
became changed
With an imprint of
terror
Forged forever in fire
When destruction fell
down like fall rain?
Were you drinking your
coffee?
Were you driving to
work?
Were you holding your
babe to your heart?
Were you humming a song?
Were you righting a
wrong?
Were you ironing your
favorite shirt?
Where were you when the
world broke in
disrupting your everyday
plans?
and disturbing the
notion
that safety and peace
were the inalienable
rights of all man…
Were you calling your
mother?
Were you taking a bath?
Were you going through
the motions of your day?
Were you baking a cake?
Were you planning a
break up
and trying to find the right words to say?
Where were you when the
message came
That nothing in life is
for sure?
And all we get is each
moment with no guarantees
of tomorrow, next week
or next year…
Are you doing your part
to comfort and never
cause pain?
Remember those moments
With your head and your
heart
So the terror did not
happen in vain…
Remember the message,
remember the date
Remember nothing in life
is for sure
for all we get is each
moment with no guarantees
of tomorrow, next week
or next year…

Thank you for this wonderful reminder!
Oh miss jenny, you say it so well...why is it so much harder to remember it each moment of each day than it is to say it?
Wow Jenny! This is powerful and moving. Thank you for the reminder!
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me...I try to live by those words. Good post, Jenny!xo
Very powerful and so close to our hearts! Thank you Miss Jenny!
I too remember, and will never forget exactly where I was (working) and how I learned of such a horrible unbelievable thing. Never forget, and remember always and keep their love alive.
Beautifully written...thank you for posting !!!
so true. thanks for remembering and sharing.
Wonderful, Jenny! Loved this.
=)
I can tell you exactly where I was. I was in a hotel room in Prince Rupert, BC, and I was brushing my teeth when the second plane hit the tower. We had just come off a ferry (more like a cruise ship) and were heading back to Banff that morning with our cousins. I couldn't stop crying. All I wanted was to go home to Tucson, but I couldn't. The airports were closed and no one whould rent us a car. It was 10 days before we could get back to Tucson. I cried when we landed in Phoenix, because I was so relieved to be back in America. It was my last trip to Canada. I'll stay here, thank you. I just cannot take the chance.
So many memories have faded from my reach. This one has not.
This is a beautiful tribute, Jenny. Beautiful.
What a beautiful thoughtful way to remember. I always cry when I hear Alan Jackson sing "Where Were You..." I remember I picked up the phone and called my mother! We went to church. We held hands with members of our community. We started watching those old "Lucy" reruns! We were rushing out the door to work and school when those planes hit! We were dumbfounded! My boss had the office on "red alert" and I remember him making a public annoucement several times during the day. I worked with a woman who's daughter was in the first tower (she survived) but I remember how agitated Linda was! I will never forget! Pray for the families and all the emergency workers. Pray for all who were involved that day. Hugs to you Jenny! Anne

Oh Jenny, this should be published somewhere. It's beautiful! It should be shared with the world. Brilliant, touching, and thought-provoking. Love it! laurie
Beautifully written, Jenny! The memory of 9/11 will always be painful for us as the WTC was so much a part of our lives and we knew so many lost that day.
What a day that changed the world forever. Beautifully written, Jenny.
I'm catching up with emails from being away from the computer while working and having the computer in sick bay. This is a wonderful wonderful piece ... thank you...
it is going into my 9/11 file to read every year.
