It can be incredibly annoying.
Especially to people around you.
Sigh.
Usually I get things in my head that I hear on the radio.

Lately though, I've been singing about halibut.
I think it's getting on Mr. Jenny's nerves.
Whenever I sing, "A halibut is a happy fish..."
...Mr. Jenny rolls his eyes at me.
He is decidedly UNHAPPY about me singing 'The Happy Halibut' over and over.
I can't help it, though.
I'm trying to re-learn piano.
And these are the only beginners books in my piano bench.
I've been practicing legatos and staccatos like crazy.
And this particular song...
I'm certain that before long I will be ready to play at weddings and other big social events.
You better book me soon...
...before a Seafood Festival learns about my talent and hires me on a permanent basis.
Oh. And just in case you wanted to sing along...
The halibut is a happy fish
His fins stick out
and his tail goes swish!

The halibut is an ugly fish! I'll have to take the laptop over to the computer and play this little tune! It seems to me I remember Legato and Staccato. Boy, I'll have to break out the old piano books too! My favorite were the old Brimhall piano books that were written for beginners.
Okay that isn't one I'm familiar with. I get stupid commercial songs in my head like Geico or something.
This all sounds a little "FISHY" to me:) Sometimes I can't help but make myself laugh:) LOVE you sweet Jenny! Play on Sista!
That's good I don't know this one either so I won't be joining you singing it all evening - but I do feel I might have missed out on something good by not knowing this song!

What's worse than a Song Worm in your head?...a Song Fish!! Jenny, you've done it again - sent me off to work with a big smile!
Ok, Miss Jenny, I haven't heard this song. But, I do hate it when I get a song stuck in my head and I sing it over, and over, and over again. Usually it's only a line or two because I can't remember the lyrics often times.
You know, I would love to learn how to play the piano. I took lessons as a kid, but dropped out. That was a stupid mistake, but kids make a lot of those, don't they?
Happy randomizing!
I laughed when I saw your piano books and when you said that you'd be ready for big events soon. :) It's on my bucket list too, to become a reasonably good piano player. I think I'm ahead of you, though, as I'm in the late elementary books. But, you may catch me because I'm now fixated on learning Spanish.
Yep, earworm they call it, and what I really, really truly enjoy, Ha! Ha! are those songs that come to me when I haven't even heard them in years. Then of course I have to devote time to why in the world would that song be stuck in my head! Yikes! Which is worse!
Ah, Schaum's Happy Halibut song! Good luck getting back into playing the piano!
i would change the words to "the halibut is a tasty fish" ... yum!!!
I don't recall every playing the halibut song (Thank you, Gentle Jesus). I still play the piano on tables when I'm bored in a restaurant. I remember all the fingering from my Clementi and Mozart and Beethoven (go ahead, call me a show off). When I re-marry, which will never happen, I'll be sure to book you for the ceremony.
Love,
Janie
Songs and things I don't want to stick, stick, things that need to stick, don't.
Good for you for learning piano!
I do get silly songs stuck in my head occasionally. Lucky for Jerry, he's hard of hearing, so he doesn't hear me sing them.
OMG! this just cracked me up! I am so glad I don't actually know the tune, though, so I don't have that ear worm to contend with--LOL! :)

The Happy Halibut?!!!
I get songs stuck in my head ALL THE TIME. I don't need to hear the song either. It can be a single word somebody says, that is IN a song. I really hate it when it's a song I don't even like!
