Where were you when the
world stood still?
In that moment the world
became changed
With an imprint of
terror
Are you speaking a kind
word?
Forged forever in fire
When destruction fell
down like fall rain?
Were you drinking your
coffee?
Were you driving to
work?
Were you holding your
babe to your heart?
Were you humming a song?
Were you righting a
wrong?
Were you ironing your
favorite shirt?
Where were you when the
world broke in
disrupting your everyday
plans?
and disturbing the
notion
that safety and peace
were the inalienable
rights of all man…
Were you calling your
mother?
Were you taking a bath?
Were you going through
the motions of your day?
Were you baking a cake?
Were you planning a
break up
and trying to find the right words to say?
Where were you when the
message came
That nothing in life is
for sure?
And all we get is each
moment with no guarantees
of tomorrow, next week
or next year…
Are you doing your part
to comfort and never
cause pain?
Remember those moments
With your head and your
heart
So the terror did not
happen in vain…
Remember the message,
remember the date
Remember nothing in life
is for sure
for all we get is each
moment with no guarantees
of tomorrow, next week
or next year…

I remember EXACTLY where I was that morning! I was still working at that time and listening to The Today Show on the radio... shocked, running from my office to find a TV! Sad then, sad now! HUGS to you sweet Jenny!
My daughter and I were just discussing that this morning. I will never forget that moment when all the world listening, and I all the way here in Minnesota so the darkness fall upon all of our lives. I recall it all in such horrible detail. We shall always remember that day, and how it changed our lives.
Like the day of the assassination of JFK, those of us that are old enough to remember, will never, ever forget where we were or what we were doing at the moment we learned of the terrible events of that morning. I was ironing my husband's shirt and watching the news. As the first report came on, I found it difficult to believe that it was something that was truly happening.
I remember like it was yesterday and I will never forget. Keeping everyone in my prayers. ((HUGS))
I know where I was. I was in a the computer lab at school. The teacher kept rushing in to use my phone to check on family members.
I remember where I was...at work ...all of us outside watching the Shanksville plane go over...low...
( I live in PA ) Once we knew from the news what was going on one of the guys left immediately as he lived not far from there.
Horrible shocking day...for awhile there we thought the entire country was under attack / it was all so confusing and horrible.
Beautiful tribute, Jenny. I don't remember much anymore, but I do remember that day.
I took The Hurricane to school in Pennsylvania. It was the first day of her sophomore year. When I arrived at home, I turned on The Today Show. The hosts were talking about The Twin Towers and Matt Lauer said it seemed to be a horrible air traffic control accident. Then the second plane hit. The students at The Hurricane's school were called to the chapel where The Head of School told them what had happened. They canceled classes and set up big screen TVs all over the campus. Many students had parents who worked in New York or D.C. One girl's father had breakfast at the towers and walked out of the building right before the first plane hit.
Love,
Janie
Wonderful post and photography ~ thanks, Jenny ~

all we get is each moment--so very true.
I was getting ready to go to work.
I was still sleeping when the phone rang (I forget who called). They said, "don't talk, just go turn on the TV, NOW!" I rarely get pinned to the TV, but I sure did this time.
