Goodbye Sweet Friend

Linked to week 179 for Saturday Centus.   To read other uses inspired by the word 'remorse' just click here.  Haven't been writing much this week.  Still just a girl missing her dog greatly.

You looked at me with those big brown eyes.

“Is this okay?” you asked.

I reassured you.

Even though nothing about it felt okay.

You trembled a bit beneath my hand.

Your eyes questioned.

“It will be okay. It will be better now.”

I reassured you.

But now I have trouble reassuring myself.

Perhaps I could have been more patient in those final days.

Perhaps I could have given you an extra treat or so.

Instead, I watched as your eyes faded.

And I was left with nothing but loss.

And a very large wiener dog shaped hole in my heart.

Rest in Peace, Oskar.   You will be missed.

Huge hugs headed your way. I know the feeling, I had to put my Patches down 2 years ago and I still miss her. I have Brandy now, thank God since Norm is in a group home, but there was something at my Patches...

Oh ~ I am so very sorry. :'(
Our pets become such a big part of our family and it is so hard when they are no longer physically with us. May you find peace and a smile on your face when you think of your sweet Oskar.

I'm so sorry Jenny -- they leave their paw prints on our hearts when the cross over. Surely they must wait for us in heaven.

I'm so sorry. What a sweet dog.
It's the one bad thing about pets--we live so much longer than they do.

Aw noooo! My heart aches for you. I wish I could reach through the computer and give you a big hug!He was such a sweet little fella and a joy to you no doubt.

I hope you will find comfort in knowing that he has gone ahead and will be waiting for you on the other side of the rainbow bridge.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Aww I am so very sorry you lost your little friend. I understand your pain and questioning. They do claim our hearts.
Mighty is failing slowly and I am trying so hard to make sure I won't feel any regrets--- but I know I will. We do our best.

I'm so sorry. All my pets have a way of coming back to me in loving thoughts. Those will never leave. Oskar is in your heart forever. One Christmas holiday I was so busy with little kids I didn't notice the cat. All of a sudden I looked at Candy and he didn't look good. I took him immediately to the vet but he died two hour later. I know how you feel about doing enough. I was too busy to notice my quiet kitty who was very sick. Still makes me feel bad. xo Jenny

Our "children" become so much a part of our lives! I still miss my Precious Girl and dream about her. Maybe she and Oskar are chasing each other around Doggie Heaven. I am sooooo sorry for your loss, because I know just what it's like.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. Nothing can steal a piece our heart like an animal.

I am so darn sorry to hear this. Our beloved pets have a little spot in our hearts reserved just for them. A place that humans have no access to.

I can't read the "Rainbow Bridge" without losing it. Never could and probably never will be able to.

Again, I'm sorry to hear this Jenny. It sucks!
