We don't need no stinkin' 4-wheel drive, man...

We see something cool, we go!

That's our road trip rule.

Sometimes it doesn't work out perfectly, but this time it did!

No damage to the undercarriage of the car!

No getting stuck!

No panic attacks from feeling like we're on a set of Deliverance!

But.

Whenever we see trees growing out of rocks we have to go closer to look.

And then, when we see a cool, falling down oil well, we have to drive up to see that, too.

And then...

Then...

When we see some cool rock ruins in the distance, we have to inch down a horrible road with big holes, giant ruts, etc. to see what's up.

We puzzled over what these ruins might be.

It took some creative googling, but I finally discovered we discovered the remains of the American Meteorite Museum. Originally built in 1946 by Dr. Harvey H. Nininger, the building served as a museum, home, workplace and lab for the meteor crater outside of Winslow, Arizona.

It's always exciting to find some remnants of the past that spark your imagination and get your car really, really, really muddy!

On Friday I'll show you some pictures of the cool Railroad hotel and then I'll quit boring you!

Thanks for stopping by.

Sometimes we find great things without even trying!

Not boring at all! I always find it interesting to see what it's like where other folks live. That is so, so different from here! I'm kind of surprised that the museum is in such disrepair for only having been built in 1946.

Love those photos - and the ruins are fabulous...while we also have a 4 wheel drive truck which has done the Haul Road to the Arctic Circle (same one as on Ice Road Truckers, BTW) being on the 4 wheeler does have its benefits! Total freedom, go anywhere, wind blowing through your hair...bugs in your teeth...so fun :o)

Post more photos - they are great!

Yep, sounds like us...although we tend to go down roads where you have to back-up over cliffs, just to give one a "thrill"!! That building looks so much older than the 40's, guess it is the desert conditions. Great pictures!

Whose bored? Certainly not us!!!

I adore your off~road finds, they're the best Miss Jenny and so what if ya get a little muddy 'round the edges. Heck, we live on a 'dirt' road...it's just a way of life 'round here!

God bless and have a fun day sweetie!!! :o)

What a great road trip! Last time my hubby and I went on a little "off road" drive, we got stuck in the mud! Thankfully a friend brought his truck out and pulled us out. I thought it was quite hilarious, my hubby didn't! He's so silly.

Well, I wouldn't have stopped for the rock with the tree and we have oil wells all around here...but the ruins would have grabbed me and sucked me in. I would have googled too! Really cool looking!

Your mini road trip just keeps getting cooler and cooler :) Wow! You found some old ruins! I bet no one has seen this place in a long time! I think you and Mr. Jenny should become explorers. I would enjoy reading your adventures very much :)
