Gord's Gold?

This little story is linked to week 153 of Saturday Centus. To read other offerings, just click here.  The prompt is in bold.   And if you're not old enough to remember the Gordon I'm talking about in this song feel free to click here!  The song this prompt came from is linked here.

"Our fingers entwined like ribbons of light…la-la…came through a doorway somewhere in the night…”

I snorted in ridicule.  “Seriously, Gordon…you have the nerve to sing that dumb song at open mic night!”

Gordon glared and flipped his long dishwater blonde hair from his eyes.

“Well girl.  Why don’t you give me some song lyrics then?”

“Okay, fine.”

I thought for a moment and started singing, “la-la-la …ummm…I can see her lyin' back in her SATIN dress…In a room where ya do what ya don't confess…Sundown ya better take care…
If I find you been creepin' 'round my back stairs.”

Gordon just laughed.   "Like I'd ever sing THAT!!!!"

Oh, how I loved Gordon Lightfoot, Jenny. My favorite? "If you could read my mind love, what a tale my thoughts could tell. Just like an old time movie 'bout a ghost from a wishing well...." Yep, I loved HIM, and "Sundown" was another.

Sheila

Jenny, did I ever tell you Gord and I are old friends? I don't see him any more because my ex husband is his producer and it's a bit awkward. His songs are so familiar that one day, when he was just sitting around singing in the next room, I thought the radio was on. Bet I could finish that story!

That made me laugh.
Gordon Lightfoot was one of my late uncle's favorite musicians.
His song about the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald always brings tears to my eyes.

Oh, I remember Sundown, you'd better take care if I find you've been creepin' down the back stairs. My favorite is If you could read my mind, love, what a tale my thoughts could tell. That song is pure poetry and I loved his voice.

Love,
Janie
