Gardens are not made by sitting in the shade.
Rudyard Kipling
This quotation was brought to you by Alphabe-Thursday's letter "G". To see other G links, just click here.
And, hey, speaking of gardens, one of our Alphabe-Thursday link friends at the Woodwife's Journal is having a giveaway. She's a very cool gardener and herbalist. Can you help her get over the 100 mark for followers and enter her giveway? That would be wonderul. To visit her, just click here! Thanks a bunch!

What a great quote and oh so true. I love a beautiful garden but I sit in the shade too much to have one! Happy G to you...
I have always admired Rudyard Kipling! Thanks for sharing this. It makes me want to go outside and do some trimming!
Yep, that's my problem. I'm too much of a shade-sitter.
=)
Oh! So THAT'S why my garden is not shaping up the way it should me! I have to get out of my chair?
You are so right!...I'm working slowly on mine...actually the grandbabies little garden is more in bloom and ready then my flower beds...and even after all my work...none of them will even come close to your lovely flower beds! Oh my, stunning!!!!!! Love your tunes too!
Such a perfect quote! I also always say whoever labeled gardening as 'light' activity never did any!:@)
That is a gorgeous photo...and a perfect quote.
but, but. I really don't like to garden. having to do with getting dirt under my fingernails. yikes.
Just came in from an hour of yard work. Neat yards aren't made, by sitting in the shade either. :-)

If you have advice you'd care to share, fire away! Please email me your home address. I have a little "thank you" gift I'd like to send to you.

BTW - You garden is gorgeous! I talked Mr. Woodwife into letting the lawn grow until I can harvest all the wonderful medicinal plants that are growing there! Looks like we're ready to make hay!
I don't really have a garden (unless sagebrush counts)....
Maybe this is the year for some landscaping! Maybe not!
Guess we'll see...
I wish I had it in me to have the patience to garden cause they are so beautiful!
Hi Jenny! I posted about gardening today too! One plant in particular to be specific, one giant behemoth of a plant, lol! Thanks for hosting Alphabe Thursday every week, Nan
I'm afraid the gardens here aren't doing too well with the drought. I keep wondering when they'll start rationing water. I think it was 100 today, so I'm sure it's coming soon. We haven't had a good rainfall since January.
what a beautiful garden! And that grass looks like a putting green! {:-Deb
The only thing prolific in our yard, is sago palms. Gawd I hate sago palms.
Somedays I wish they were made that way ;) !
Blessings to you and your lovely garden :)
I'm green with envy with all the beautiful gardens I've seen this past week. I wish I could have one of my own too! Of course, it'll have to come with a gardener since I don't plan to do any of the upkeeping myself :)
I love sitting in the shade and looking at my yard.
How's your garden growing? Mine is looking pretty sad. Between the critters eating the plants and Mother Nature dumping tons of rain on it...it looks like I will be buying my veggies.
That is one amazingly gorgeous garden!
Yes and no, because I SIT in the shade while the garden is made !
I love visiting such fabulous gardens!
XOXO Lola:)
But gardens are certainly enjoyed when sitting in the shade. That's a beautiful garden in the photo!
Shade? What's shade???
That is so true and unless you can hire someone they sure don't look like that photo.
That is one beautiful Garden... and I love the quote. We passed a lilac bush walking the dogs the other day and I bent over to sniff and it was wonderful!!
Ah....so fun to see a garden grow :o)
Blessings & Aloha!
I am slowly, slowly getting some blog reading caught up...hope you are doing well and can't wait to see you at my G post :o)
Oh, how I would LOVE such beautiful landscaping! Someday..
Thanks for hosting. I'm off to visit the WoodWife.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
- Catherine
I'd love to sit in the shade and watch a gardener getting my garden into shape!
