One of the most romantic songs ever written...

...is by Lyle Lovett.

You might already know the song. The name of it is "If I had a boat..."

If you haven't heard it, please scroll waaaaayyyy down to the bottom of my blog and select the very last song (number 105) and hit that little arrow to make it play...I'll wait while you do it...and hey, while you're grabbing the song get a kleenex cuz this post is sure to make a tear or two well up in your eye...

...

Hey, what's taking you so long? Geez, did you take a potty break or what.

OK, now that you hear it playing you see what I mean, right?

The lyrics are so touching...

If I had a boat
I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I'd ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat

If I were Roy Rogers
I'd sure enough be single
I couldn't bring myself to marrying old Dale
It'd just be me and trigger
We'd go riding through them movies
Then we'd buy a boat and on the sea we'd sail

The mystery masked man was smart
He got himself a Tonto
'Cause Tonto did the dirty work for free
But Tonto he was smarter
And one day said kemo sabe
Kiss my ass I bought a boat
I'm going out to sea

And if I were like lightning
I wouldn't need no sneakers
I'd come and go wherever I would please
And I'd scare 'em by the shade tree
And I'd scare 'em by the light pole
But I would not scare my pony on my boat out on the sea

And if I had a boat
I'd go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I'd ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat

...but maybe the song isn't really the romantic thing.

Here's the romantic thing. Mr. Jenny and I just celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary. And my sweet Mr. Jenny actually danced with me to that song in my office without even making fun of the words...

OK. So he did make fun of the words just a teeny, tiny bit but...

SERIOUSLY...

How many guys would even attempt to dance with their two-left-footed wife to Lyle Lovett singing about riding a pony on a boat?

The most romantic song every written.

What did I tell ya?

Sigh...

Very romantic. If you do not listen to the words the music is very pretty. Congrats on your wedding anniversary. Hubs and I celebrated our 14th this past Tuesday.

I think dancing is romantic no matter what music (if any) you're dancing to!

Happy Anniversary! If that's a song you consider romantic I say go for it. Now I'm wondering if Mr. Jenny has a favorite song too.

I like Mr. Jenny, but I didn't know he could dance. He is lucky to be married to you.

Happy, happy, happy anniversary Jenny & Mr. Jenny! What a beautiful picture of the two of you....the smiles say it all! And the texture of Lyle's voice is just dreamy, I don't care what he is singing.

Have a beautiful day!

There is nothing at all as romantic as kitchen dancing to whatever's on the radio. You two have the secret!

Happy Anniversary! That is so exciting for you. And it takes a very strong man to not make fun of those words. Really. But the story is so romantic. So very romantic!

Happy Anniversary, Miss Jenny and Mr. Jenny! (I guess that should be MRS. huh? Sounds so OLD. *snort*)

Lyle? The man has a rather peculiar look to him. Don't know that I've ever heard any of his songs. Oh yeah, cuz I, for the most part, HATE country music! Bleccch! (Exceptions include Lonestar because they sang the bestest song EVER, with "Amazed" and Carrie Underwood, cuz she's just cool like that.)

Wow. That song made me cry! No, really...a horse on a boat. What kind of cold hearted person isn't moved by that. Congrats on your anniversary! What a guy, I say.
(But Lyle Lovett??? Really??? Gag!)

Happy anniversary to you and Mr. Jenny!

When I first heard the song and read the lyrics, I kept thinking there must be some hidden meaning behind the song. Can't really say that it's romantic but in the context of things, I can see why it's the most romantic song ever :) I think it's adorable that you and Mr. Jenny danced to that song in your office. You guys are too cute :)
