It's true.
Our house has a magical hallway.
It's wood floors are echoe-y and perfect for sliding. You can pretend you are ice skating...or zipping down a slip-n-slide.
It is wide enough for three little girls to run up and down, pulling Fisher Price Snoopy dogs and making enough irritatingly high-pitched barking noises to shake the foundation. It can be a highway...or a trail through the jungle.
It can become a wind tunnel and dry little bodies after baths when our Grandlittles run up and down from my bedroom to the kitchen.
AND...
It is a cure for shyness.
On Monday night we had company. The company had five children...all of whom were very shy.
Our Grandlittles...
Ummm... not so shy.
The youngest child, Joey, was pretty unsure what to make of three rowdy little girls running this way and that.
Our little Mo approached him and asked him to play.
He was silent.
She tipped her head and said, "Oh, I get it! You're shy!"
He was silent.
Then she said, "Do you want to run up and down the hallway with me?"
He looked down a the floor.
He looked down the hallway.
And then, he took off running.
Up and down.
Up and down.
All the little kids ran up and down.
And up and down.
It was loud.
It was echoe-y.
It was magical.
And it was the perfect cure for shyness.
The rest of the night continued with swimming and running and playing.
The magical hallway had done it's job...
Thank heavens I hid the Snoopy dogs before all the extra kids got there, though!
Those little fellas are mighty loud.
...
...
However...
If you come over to visit me and feel shy, I promise I'll let you pull a Snoopy dog in the magical hallway.
And you can run up and down...
...and up and down...
... as much as you like until your shyness goes away!
...
That's what magical hallways are for anyway!
Right?

Funny :) and some refreshing blue for *PicStory* :) If you like.... LG Tina
I also have a magic hallway that gets used much like yours. Just seems that when one is a g'boy, things can get a little more raucous.
Nice memories, thanks for sharing your family stories. Your pool is beautiful...jealous!!!!
Too funny :) I'm sure that if we visited you, we'll need the magical hallway too because E is a very shy girl but she does love to run up and down hallways!
I am so running down your hallway - I will wear my slippiest socks and see how far I can slide...

another reason i hate my carpet :(

JDaniel would just love to run up and down the hallway. Then he would want a dip in the pool.
Magical halls have a way of bringing out the magic in children.
Your magical hardwood-floor-hallway reminds me of one I grew up with, lots of sliding done...until my mother had thick carpet installed.
What a beautiful pool you have!
Here, it's a magical round-about. Start running in kitchen, proceed through den, to front room, then on to hall and back to kitchen again. And repeat. :-)
Yes indeed! A magical hallway!
Well, I am not shy BUT when I visit you, I MUST run up and down that hallway! Magical! AND I want to play with the Snoopy dogs:) Cute pictures of the kids running and having fun in the pool!
Have a blessed day my friend, HUGS!
That is so darn cute!!!! I think your whole family/house is magical!
I would love to run up and down your hallway Jenny! I might just be a wee bit louder than the grandlittles though : )

I love magical hallways. I think mine will fit the bill when Mr. Tiger gets older!
hugs,
Linda
I just know that you have more than one magical are in your house!
What a fun magical hallway!! Love it! Gorgeous pool!!!
Ha! I think I would like to come over and run in the magical hallway. Sounds like a ton of fun!

I can see where just wearing a pair of socks would be a lot of fun in that hallway. I didn't see any holes in the wallboard...yet!
I want a magical hallway, too! Can I really come over and play in yours?
Our longest hallway is upstairs. If I didn't have a runner on the floor, it would be plenty slidy. Since it ends near the top of the stairs, sliding could end in a painfully fast trip to the main floor.
Your pool is gorgeous! I would love to replace our above ground pool with a beautiful inground pool like yours. Someday...sigh.
I think we all need a magical hallway. Maybe if I took out the carpet on mine and replaced it with wood floors??
What a fun night for the kids. And your pool looks like mine needs to look. (We're redoing it soon, since it is the same as it was back in the 1960s.)
=)
I had a magical hallway when I was growing up and it was used the same way!
I have a magical loft! My grandkids love to run up to the loft and yell down at the people below. I have no idea why they think it is so cool, but they do! When we have "shy" children as guests, all we have to say is, "there's a toy box up in the loft" and off they go!
I love it...
What a way to spend time. LOVE IT!!!!
I'd like to do that some day!
Melinda
How sweet that your grandlittle made the gesture to invite the shy ones to go wild in the magical hallway.
It's better with socks on! Heck, when noone is watching I slide across my wood floor. I just hope I don't fall and break something. I may have to say the hubby pushed me to save face! :0 ~Ames ♥
I love the word magic and any derivative thereof. I think it goes hand in hand with laughter and excitment! I sure wish I had your floors!
Thank you for sharing your grandkiddle stories! I can imagine what it will be like when I have mine!
I just love how you think! I know I can count on you for a smile (or sometimes an emotional tear). Hope you are doing okay!
Love your "magical, loud, echoe-y, hallway!" hm...we'll have to be sure to keep our eyes open for one of these in our "forever home" where grandbabies and other little ones can experience its wonders :o)
Blessings & Aloha!
I would have been too shy to run up & down still but that snoopy dog may have been more of a temptation. That pool is awesome, that right there would have been hard to pass up:-)
oh I see the magic from your photos....love it....
That, my dear, was a perfect childrens' book. Get an agent and get it published! :)
What wonderful fun they all had. Your little Mo is just amazing. Precious pictures. Hugs
Oh such a magical hallway indeed. I wish I had such a hallway when I was little. But at least there is one in existence now.
