Obviously, Confucius was a man...

...and I bet Mrs. Confucius got pretty fed up with him, too.

The reason I know this is because just a few days ago, Mr. Jenny decided he was going on a diet.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," I said, in a semi-moderately supportive way.

BUT...

I didn't realize his diet was going to impact me quite so much.

BECAUSE...

...today I was moping around, missing my Grandlittles (they're on vacation for THIRTEEN DAYS!!!!)...

...and I very sweetly said, "How about if we go out for dinner?"

And Mr. Jenny replied, "Wellll...we have a lot of leftovers AND I am trying to be on a diet..."

...and I very sweetly said, "Yeah, but I feel like getting a margarita. I'm kind of down in the dumps with the girls gone..."

And Mr. Jenny replied, "Wellll...I think there might be a beer down in the fridge by the pool AND I'm trying to be on a diet..."

...and I very sweetly said, "Welll...yeah...but how about if I order a thin crust pizza with light cheese and all veggies because I'm kind of down in the dumps with the girls gone and leftovers don't sound too great..."

And Mr. Jenny replied, "Wellll...I'd rather not if you don't mind because I'm trying to be ona diet..."

And I very not-sweetly said, "Wellll...obviously I am the only one who misses the Grandlittles AND obviously you don't love me anymore AND..."

And Mr. Jenny interrupted me and said, "Look, I'd rather not go out to eat but if you really, really want to we can..."

And I said, "Fine, just fine, then...never mind...I'll eat leftovers..."

Grrrrr...

BUT...

After I ate the very not-satisfying stupid-low-stupid-fat-stupid-healthy leftovers, I realized that Mr. Jenny is EXACTLY like Confucius...

Because I'm certain that when Mrs. Confucius said,

"Seriously, C, I am sick to death of rice and vegetables especially when I'm feeling blue. Can't we go out for Mexican?", he came up with THIS quote:

“The superior man thinks always of virtue; the common woman thinks of comfort.”

Hmphhh...

Men!

Some things just never change.

...

...

Sigh...

I agree. I think you need a girl's night out.

The problem, as I see it, is that you cook too well. If you put your mind to it, I bet you could cook food that nobody would eat as leftovers...that way, you'd have gotten that dinner and margarita.

And not had to do the dishes.

Win/win.

nothing solves problems like going out for a margarita and mexican foods!..

If Confucius was really that wise he'd have realized the truth behind "If Mama ain't happy, nobody's happy" and he'd have gone for Mexican and margaritas.

haha!!! Ms Jenny and Ms. Jenny's humor is a great way to start the work day! I really need to head out the door, but had to stop and let you know...we've been out of town so am slowly catching up once again on my thank you visits! Thank you so, so much for stopping by 2 weeks ago! I didnt get to put up "my one post a week" post this past week and may not be able to do one this coming week!

My hubby is also being soooo good about his eating way of life! (Mr. Steve...I do have to say, whoohoo on sticking to your diet! and Ms. Jenny...I'd go get some Mexican or Pizza with ya, if we lived closer :o)

Blessings & Aloha!

Whoa! Deep, Jenny...very deep! Kind of opposite in our family. Not that I'm virtuous or anything but I do strive to eat healthy (except no one better touch my ice cream) ahem, where was I? Oh yeah, I try to eat healthy and Mr. Sister is the one who brings the pizzas home. Of course I cave! I said that I strive to be healthy, not that I'm successful at in! :o)

You are too cute, Jenny! This is just too funny :) I love how you got a bit of Confucianism in this post too! I totally would've gone out for some margaritas with you if we lived close by.

Some things cross cultures and the mists of time - like so many others, I'd have met you for a Margarita and a Pizza!

Yeah, it's all well and good to be on a diet for 6 days a week, but the diet gurus know that if you stay on that lo-cal crap for long, your body adjusts and your weight-loss slows down. Tell Steve that if he really wants to lose weight, it is imperative that one night a week he must take you out for margaritas and mexican. The body becomes startled at all that yummy food, and revs up! The result? More weight loss! Listen, if you like, I can write a "scientific" paper on the subject. I can even throw in words that he never heard of for proof.

Oh, this is really funny Jenny. I have felt like you before...though no one ever wants to diet in this house besides me!
I hope those kiddos have a blast and bring home many silly stories for you to share!

I'm for the Margarita too! And I also agree with Judie. You've gotta cheat at least one day a week.~Ames

Jenny, this is all very interesting with great photos. Sorry I've been MIA. I try to keep up with your blog, but truly haven't had as much computer time in recent months.
Hope all is well with you! ~ Sarah

Bustin' out the blender for your own cocktail would have helped those leftovers go down! Ask me how I know...
Love seeing your smiling face on my sidebar! Hope you are well....and that the grandlittles miss you as much as you miss them!

Lol Sweet Jenny you are just sooooo funny. Loved this but sorry you did not get to go out and eat. How about not leaving any left overs so there will be nothing in the fridge, maybe that'll work. Hugs

Aw, wish I was there to have a margarita with you!

Susan Anderson said...

Sounds like Mr. Jenny needs that Weight Watchers book that tells you how to eat out (and where) and how many points it all is!

;)

Ain't it the truth!

Jo said...

next time, feed him the left overs and call a friend for drinks and ape's ... loved your tie in to the quote, such a very very clever post!!!

Ms. A said...

Just the opposite around here. He ALWAYS wants to eat out and sometimes I prefer to sit home and sulk.

Dazee Dreamer said...

Ok, I see a revolt coming on with your hubs. beer/margaritta. hmmm, I'm going with the later.

And veggie pizza. oh, he's in trouble now

I widh there was a Raspberry sign on the computer so I could put it here and then make that noise.
I have never figured out why men lose weight faster than women.
What do we have that they don't?????
Hopefully you'll get to have visit with "Rita" soon.

Take Care.

Dumb Confucius. He didn't really know anything, did he? Sorry he had to ruin your pity date with the Margarita. Next time, ditch the hubby and go with girls. Girls are much more supportive than husbands, anyway. They talk you into another and another until you forget everything sad. :) Well, that is how it goes for me and chocolate. I assume it is the same with drinks.

Lourie said...

Ahhhh comforts! Chocolate. Pizza. Sounds good to me. Hang in there.

How do you come up with these crazy fun posts, Jenny?

We're in the same boat though, I'm missing my granddaughter that just married and moved to Tacoma, Washington. I'll even settle for a beer.

jenn said...

and you couldn't have gone on without him and left him there to eat his leftovers and had your mexican and margaritas because?

Gattina said...

I very much doubt about men's virtues, but I agree with him on comfort ! I would have ordered a big pizza at my taste and eat it alone IN FRONT of Mr. G !
Because when I am on diet (which doesn't happen often (fortunately for him) he also eats his pasta !!

Rosalind Adam said...

Poor Mr Jenny. There he was trying to self-deny and there you were tempting him with the 'forbidden apple'. You wicked woman. Next time why not try a take-away.

Sue said...

Next time, send Mr. Diet to pick up carry out Mexican for you:) I think I've been doing this to my husband lately...although he doesn't care so much about eating out. He just keeps getting served diet food at home. Luckily, eating is much more important to me than it is to him.

People Who Know Me Would Say: said...

HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Moore Minutes said...

Aww, I have to say: poor Mr. Jenny. ;) Cheers to his will power...now if he can just pass some over to me!

Julie Kwiatkowski Schuler said...

That was very inconsiderate of Mr. Jenny! I would just go by myself. I have no problem eating alone in a restaurant. It makes me feel mysterious.
