So...just the other morning...

...Mr. Jenny and I were laying in bed around 5:30 am.

And he put his arm over me.

And I said, "We've been going to Weight Watchers for three weeks now, can you tell a difference?"

And he didn't say anything.

I waited.

I waited.

I thought maybe he missed the question so I repeated myself.

And waited.

And then I said, "Well, just lie and tell me you can."

And he said, "Gee, I can really tell the difference."

And I said, "Really?"

And I waited.

And waited.

And then I said again, "Really?"

And he said, "No, but you told me to lie."

So, I said, "You're just all full of yourself because you've lost like 15.6 pounds already and I've lost like 6."

And he said, "Huh?"

Gee. That was such an unsatisfying conversation.

If you'll excuse me now I need to go sneakily pour some melted butter over Mr. Jenny's breakfast.

That'll teach him to not be supportive.

Sigh.

PS. I know 6 pounds is great. I'm just being a dork today! Aren't you surprised?

I can so tell the difference! And so can you because you know you are working hard and you know it will pay off and we all know men just put us to shame in this dept. There are many aspects of Men vs Women that are so totally unfair...but we all know we can handle more. Hang in their miss Jenny (and Smarties are a 0 on the points!!!)

Yes, I gave myself time to duck, run and hide.

But really Dear, when we hold a knife over our heads, to do anything... The knife in this instance being WEIGHT WATCHERS... All we can think of, is FOOD!

There has to be a better way...

Hugsssssssssssssssssss...

I'm proud of you Jenny..you are working towards a hard goal...and Mr. Jenny is doing it with you...that helps alot...it doesn't matter that your numbers are different..it matters that you are both trying to be healthier...your children and grandchildren will be rewarded for your efforts...

Hi Jenny,

I must be missing something, because when you came over last weekend, all I saw were two beautiful, vibrant ladies looking most attractive and slim.

Good morning to ya'

ummmm sure...I can tell a difference! really...I can. Joking aside ...do not watch the numbers, especially hubbys. I go by how comfortable the clothing becomes and finally how much smaller a reflection in the store windows look and when my shadow gets thinner.THEN I weigh myself.

Cheryl Kohan said...

Six pounds is A LOT!! You should be proud of yourself. I say go pour lots of butter on his breakfast.

And we all know how much harder it is for women because of that stinkin' layer of fat we have to have in case we bear children. Gah!!!

My goodness...you are positively skinny! Don't forget that muscle mass weighs more, and all the blogging has built up huge muscle in your fingers...If you didn't blog your weight would be down by at least 15lbs!!!!

6 pounds is nothing to sneeze at! Keep up the good work... it will pay off! Way to go! And yay for Mr. Jenny too (it's ALWAYS easier for men).

Cheryl said...

I absolutely can see the difference. Your writing is so much lighter today. It practically floats on air. Ergo, this must be the result of dropping those 6 pounds.

(I think I fixed my email connection. Fingers crossed.)

Jeanie said...

Your mistake was asking a man, any man, even the incredible shrinking Mr. Jenny. If you have lost 6 lbs., of course you can tell. You go girl!

6 pounds in 3 weeks is a very healthy weight loss. 2 pounds per week. That is really wonderful. Congratulations!

I need to get my workout done pronto today!

As for you? As long as you are feeling better, thats what matters! Keep it up lady!

Ms Jenny, I have noticed a huge difference.

Just yesterday I mistook you for a crack in the atmosphere when you turned sideways.

Now you go pour butter and cream on Mr. Jenny's breakfast and start putting Boost or something in his milkshakes.

I know of a lady who really did put some weight lifters weight gain powder in her husband's weight loss powder - he was being snarky and loosing tons of weight right after she had a baby. I am not sure is she is still married!
I think you look fabulous!

He was really taking his life in his own hands. Congrats on losing those 6 pounds. I'm going through the same thing.

The only thing you should eliminate from your diet is negative thinking. You are beautiful and wonderful. Strive for health. Be moderate. Don't make any changes in your diet that you can't sustain for the rest of your life.

I'm really NO ONE to give you advice, but I think I'm your age and I've dieted since I was 14 and finally 'get it.'

Pretty funny Jenny :-) Men...exasperating are we not? I suppose it is a fair trade for women being so difficult...You need to check my post for today...I tried to link with Alphabe, but found out...only one allowed...darn!

Tina said...

Congrats on the six! And since we're all giving you advice, here's mine. Eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full. I know it sounds easy, but the trick to it is: are you truly hungry? Or are you just craving maybe something else intangible. And then the full thing: it comes much faster than you think once you start paying attention. Full is rarely clean your plate, not if you're really listening to your body. I have found for myself it usually means leaving two or three bites. And that's the thing, those bites add up, and without even trying to diet, you lose weight. And ignore Mr. Jenny, and by all means, pour the butter! {hugs}

I've had that same conversation with my husband more times than I can count. It seems I have to lose 20 pounds before he notices.

(The good news is that I think I have to gain 20 before he notices that, too.)

;)

Darcie said...

Congrats to BOTH of you! You are doing awesome. Men...argh...it just doesn't seem right that they lose it so fast, huh? Keep up the good work Jenny!

ham1299 said...

Aww! (((Hugs))) I so know the feeling. My hubby and I had a similar conversation - and I'd lost over 10 (yes TEN) pounds! The good news is that others - those who don't see me daily - DO notice. Congrats on losing 6 pounds! That is AWESOME!

GardenOfDaisies said...

Jenny, I have found that when I have lost about 10 pounds people will look at me and ask me if I have cut my hair? It seems that most people don't notice a difference in size til you hit about 20 pounds and then all of a sudden they say... Gosh you have lost a ton of weight haven't you? I don't know which one is worse... not noticing, or thinking that I had a ton to lose.
LOL!

Doesn't seem fair that the pounds just seem to melt off the men. My sister and her hubs are dieting. While he has lost twice as many pounds, I can totally tell the difference on HER. Plus, I think most of his weight loss was brain cells!

Hi Jenny!

I love that photo of Mr. Jenny ...lol!

Hey, 6 pound is 6 pounds! Good job! Keep it up!

PS I heard recently that the only way womnen can lose weight after menopause is diet and exercise. Exercise was stressed. Do you think we can attach our computers to a stationary bike and pedal as we blog visit? :-)

Oh, Jenny, congratulations. I have to confess, I've sinned. Yesterday, my friend, Jo ( aka, Poetic Shutterbug ) came over for eight hours and helped me get my first ever ( at the age of 65 ) book of poetry edited, etc, uploaded on createspace and approval came back this morning!!! They're sending me a proof and, if I think all is okay, "Life's Journey" will be on Amazon.com in about a month. Bad girl that I am, before I went to get Jo, my car went out of control and ended up in the drive through at Krispy Kreme. A box of mini doughnuts and assorted regular doughnuts later, I was on my way. Jo and I manged to consume a substantial quantity of the booty while we worked, then I took her out for Japanese food after. Now, I must lock myself to the treadmill for the weekend.

How about butter AND maple syrup for Mr. Jenny?

It ISN'T fair, is it? Why do men get all of the fat-burning genes, or hormones, or whatever it is? wahwahwah....! But seriously, 6 lbs? Jenny, that's great! I bet you can already feel a difference in your clothes and how you feel... you're on your way! Now, how many more do have to lose, like... 2? Cause from the pics I've seen, you really didn't look like you needed to lose any!

In the early years of our marriage, my husband's idea of a diet, was to give up some beer and maybe some soda. Not all beer and soda, and he still had to have daily chocolate, but he just cut back-- all things in moderation you know. He never could understand why I couldn't quite take the baby weight off. After all, it's easy to lose weight. But I never drank soda. Or beer. Or ate sweets. So, I couldn't give it up. Well, I got a little tired of it all, and started buttering his bread before slapping on the Miracle Whip when I made his daily sandwich, and basically, I just slipped extra calories into his food wherever I could. He finally started gaining weight (not too much), but I doubt if I had anything to do with it. I think it was his daily pint of Ben and Jerry's that did it!
