So...can I tell you about Friday!?!

Remember my terrified post from Friday?

So...

My son dropped them a little after 7:30 am. Oh, they were excited. They were little bundles of energy. They were adorable but I was not fooled by those sweet exteriors.

I hugged them. I kissed them. They hugged me. They kissed me. They hugged the weiner dog. The weiner dog licked them. This went on for about 3 1/2 minutes. It was a true love fest. My fear started to fade away.

I laid down the rules. You know? We are not eating all day long. We are picking up after ourselves. We are being polite. We are not bickering. We are going to have fun!

It went well.

I had made a big plate of cut-up fresh fruit, bought some hard rolls (they love these just plain - no butter or anything.

While two of them played in the living room with Barbies the third helped me make scrambled eggs.

They ate like starving truck drivers. They politely cleaned their dishes off the table.

The Grandma's helper showed up!

They liked her. She liked them.

They talked.

They walked the dog.

They went for a bike ride.

They talked.

They played basketball.

They played with Barbies.

They talked.

We read some books.

They asked for a snack.

They talked.

Mr. Jenny came out and asked how things were going. I told him, "GREAT! I am totally under control here and I'm not even exhausted!"

He got a funny look on his face.

"Ummmm...Jenny, you do know that is only 9:15 don't you?"

WHAT?

WHAT???????

Are you kidding me.

Only one hour and forty five minutes had elapsed!!!!

ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!!!!????

Alas, he was not.

They swam.

They talked.

They helped me pick tomatoes and ate every single one we picked.

And talked with their mouths full.

We did math and language worksheets I had printed out.

We had lunch.

At 11:10.

They were starving.

At 1:00 Mr. Jenny took us all to see Shrek.

They ate.

A lot.

They whispered.

I tried to calculate how many WW's points were in the skittles I kept stealing from one of them.

I gave up even caring about how many points were in the candy.

I kept dozing off in the movie.

They went home at 3:45.

On the way to meet our son, they talked.

I was sound asleep at 7:31 pm.

Snoring by 7:32 pm I suspect.

At the next morning's soccer game they all attacked me!

"Grandma, Grandma, Grandma!" they yelled, "Can we come over today, we miss you!"

"Ummmm," I told them, "I'm sorry but Grandma has stuff to do today."

The little one said, "What stuff Grandma?"

I told her I was going to fall into an exhausted coma. But I don't think she got it.

And...

GULP!

Tomorrow is Monday.

OK. It's not gonna be that bad. The little one has preschool, the older two are going to my Mom's so I can get billing done for Mr. Jenny AND they have piano lesson from 1 until 2.

Seriously...it can't be that tiring again.

Right?

RIGHT?????

Answer me, darn you.

And please lie.

Sigh...

PS I wonder if this means I will lose 9.5 pounds at WW's this week? Oh, yea...I forgot about the skittles.

Double sigh...

LOVE IT! I have a little one that gets up before the birds...we are often bored by 9 and ready for lunch at 10...they sure blow through the activities don't they...Maybe you will have to schedule in a quiet hour (or at least 15 minutes) power down, turn of the lights, close the blinds, grab a book and NO TALKING...Just maybe.

I know exactly what you're 'talkin' about'. I love my grandkids dearly but when I'm with them alone THE TIME GOES SO SLOWWWWW. I have a cousin who got custody of her grandchildren and now she is 78 and raising children!! I seriously do not know how she does it. I couldn't. Very nice angels must be hovering over her head continually or something. All I know is that there is a special chair for her in heaven someday. And she'd better take it!! :)

LOL! At least they are good kids who are so precious and loving of their grandma!

Good Luck and maybe some Iron Pills for extra energy!!!! :-)

Have a great one!!

lol....When I used to take care of my niece and nephew my whole day was planned around nap time...yes, they took two a day!!! By the time my husband would come home from work I would escape to the grocery store...I didn't need a darn thing!!...except a little piece and quiet...enjoyed every minute of it though...

That 9:15 line caught me totally by surprise. I couldn't stop laughing after that.

Did you sleep well?

Your first mistake was letting that fear fade away after the first 3 1/2 minutes....you have to hold on to the fear-it keeps you on your toes, and it might even burn a few Skittle calories.
It sounds like it was a good day all-in-all, and I hope today is a fun (and faster)one too.

Wow Jenny, I'm exhausted just reading this! You're a very busy grandma! Have a great week!

oh Jenny you are making me rethink this Grandma thing i thought I wanted. My dog is looking pretty good. I think the status quo may be okay....but those faces sure are yummy.

My hat's off to you.

We have kept our grans for the weekend several times, and when they go home I'm so tired I can't move from my chair. We haven't even been able to get them and ourselves ready and out the door to church when we have them!!!

I used to babysit for a living, and I do remember this one thing: After a day or two everyone gets into a routine and it does get easier and less tiring.

Of course, I was only twenty-something back then - - - - -

I think you may have hit on a solution for the two biggest challenges for a woman d'un certain age - lack of sleep and weight gain. You'll be down five pounds at WW from all the running around, and you'll be sleeping like a baby every night!

This made me laugh so hard.
You are such a wonderful G'ma Jenny....I can see why those girls want to hang out with you!!!

Cute post!! I have a child with ADHD. He wears me out by noon.

Oh the fun of it all...

We G'Ma's shake our heads in dismay, wonder how we ever did it everyday, remember how, then just love em...

Hang in there Jenny, and enjoy the skittle attacks (o:

Sometimes you just need SKITTLES!! :) Glad you made it through somewhat unscathed!

Bossy Betty said...

You are amazing! Those kids will always have great memories of being with you. I agree--a big bag of Skittles for you and next time--maybe a little cough medicine for the children--you know, induced nap time!

Too funny! Makes me tired, and I do it every day. Good luck with the piano lessons. :)

Thanks for your great posts!

The sound like delightful, well-behaved girls. But you do have to do a lot to keep them busy, huh? Wow! That's why I'm only sticking with my one kid. I'm too old to have any more! LOL!

All that energy and talking! I would be asleep as soon as they left! Hang in there...they are adorable and wonderful..now how many days are you doing this a week????

Jenny I have a list somewhere in my email that my leader sent me with all the candies and their points listed from the regular size to the KING size. I will look for it and send it your way. I will say that the regular Hershey Dark is 4 points for the whole bar. I live on those...well not all the time. ;)

My fun begins next week, when school is out and my oldest is at Girls Camp. I will be left to entertain the two younger ones myself!

LOVED this post Jenny! I got to the point where your husband told you it was only 9:15am and laughed my head off! Saturday morning I got up and played with my daughter in her room for an hour, then we came downstairs and after some more playing I got her breakfast ready. Then I looked at the clock - it was 6:45am.........

Oh that is so funny! I feel like that a lot with my own kids! Today, we all took a nap together. It was fabulous! Oh yeah, we loved Shrek! I hope you got some popcorn too!

That was pretty funny! Today was our last day of grandchild-care until school starts again in the fall (their parents are teachers). The 3-yr-old was in a "not listening" mode much of the day, but the 2-yr-old was easy. We miss them already.

I think you are wonder woman...I couldn't do it, wouldn't do it...well, maybe if they were girls but mine are boys. It is all tractors and dirt, no Barbies and cooking. You need to book a wonderful vacation in September.

Hahaha. I so missed you and your stories. I have a two week backlog, but I'll catch up. I can just imagine you half dead on the couch, thinking..."no more, please". Babysitting is not all it's cracked up to be and three at a time? Well, only you would go there, hahaha

You ate the skittles in the dark, right? They don't count in the point totals.

I am SURE tomorrow will be much better. Maybe you should invest in a real good DVD library. Or a full time Nanny, LOL!

Here I was thinking how well this all went when I got to the 9:15 line. I'm still laughing. Sounds like they are little bundles of energy, but they also sound like they are alot of fun! And you sound like the world's most fun Grandma. Can't wait to see what today brings :) Kathy

Oh Jenny, I can so relate to this! It is why they say that children are for the young! And it is one of the blessings of being a grandparent, they get to go home! When I have mine over, I can not believe the energy that they have! Where does it come from! Very funny post Jenny.
Love Di ♥

Hi Jenny!
I can imagine how tired, but happy you were to be watching your pretty grand girls!

I had only my 18 month old grandson to watch all week when I was in Colorado a couple of weeks ago, but I remember looking at the clock a few times wondering when nap time was coming up...lol!
