And I tell you, I was pretty awesome at it. Or perhaps I should be more concise and say, "J'ai été très bien français".
Oh geez. Now I feel bad.
Because...honestly, I lied.
The truth is I was horrible at French.
The only thing I was good at was a few swear words. And oggling the cute, wannabe-French-speaking-boys all around me.
When I was selected to be the Blogger of Note (aka BON) I thought I would impress you right away with my bi-lingual abilities. Because BON just sounds like a French word to me!
It sounds like a French word to you, too, doesn't it?
Hey, don't be shy...it's OK to answer these questions!
I didn't mean to scare you thinking I was all intellecutal and bi-lingual and all. In fact...I used Google translator just to seem all suave and debonair with those French phrases.
My Dad used to always tell me to "settle down". So I promise I will settle down now and not be so "off on my tangent". I will focus and introduce myself and my blog properly.
When a friend told me about a new website called Words of Wisdom that was looking for blogs of note, she suggested I visit the site.
I laughed at the idea of being featured. I wasn't certain my blog contained ANYTHING of note...AND I was definitely certain my blog didn't contain any wisdom.
And then I corresponded with Sandy and Pam who reassured me they weren't looking for blogs to change the world. They were just looking for blogs that were real and not just blog-vertisements.
They read my posts and said they thought my blog had content...And just so you understand, too, what these lovely ladies are looking for in blogging with content...I hope you click on this link because it really explains the whole great idea behind WOW's Bloggers of Note.
And here I am...
Content in hand, standing shyly in front of you in my non-bi-lingual way.
When I started blogging in 2008 I originally started writing for and about family.
In the Fall of 2009, I was thrown an interesting health-related curve-ball and I kind of disintegrated into a puddle of pity and a raging case of "oh poor me".
After several weeks of watching this my husband said, "Look, why don't you just write? You've been writing your whole life...why don't you try disciplining yourself with it? Write what you want...write what you need to say."
After my initial reaction of filing for divorce, I did just that.
I started writing every single day. Both on my blog and off. Writing what I wanted to say...what I needed to say...what popped into my head randomly.
And then I edited out all the "oh poor me" stuff and I was surprised that there was actually still words and sentences left.
I sit and write and sometimes what comes out shocks me and surprises me...I fully intend to go another direction with what I am writing, and somehow my brain and fingers decide to hijack my posts.
And I just go with it.
During the past weeks I have visited many of your blogs and the quality and depth of writing is a little intimidating.
But one thing I have felt in all your blogs is that you write who you are. You write your truth and your emotion and your soul.
And in that way I do fit in with you. Although my posts range from silly to sad to just plain odd and they rarely ever teach or tutor or offer anything more concrete then emotion...this blog is my truth, my emotion and my soul.
Part of being selected as Blogger of Note is picking three favorite posts to share with you.
This is a difficult task because every post I write is my truth in that moment.
But...here's three I think you might enjoy!
When I was a young girl...
Ansel Adams said...
On Abandoning Dreams too easily...
...and my husband is insisting I put this fourth one on here because obviously he thinks everyone sits in front of their computers all day, wearing their nightgowns, and saying, "Just a second, I'm going to get dressed soon!"
No Turkey Necks were Harmed...
Now, I don't know about you but I am totally exhausted from all this writing and trying to act intelligent so...
I'm just gonna say Goodnight now.
Thank you for stopping by.
Thanks for supporting all the cool blogs linked to Words of Wisdom.
Not that I'm being conceited and saying my blog is cool.
Au revoir mes bons amis.
For you non-bi-lingual people that means goodbye by pretty friends.
Seriously...you hang up first!
