It's a Christmas Carol Giveaway...

...you know. Being right before Christmas and all.

In 1943 Charles Dickens penned these words, "I have endeavoured in this Ghostly little book, to raise the Ghost of an Idea, which shall not put my readers out of humour with themselves, with each other, with the season, or with me. May it haunt their houses pleasantly, and no one wish to lay it. Their faithful Friend and Servant, C.D."

And since I am all about classic literature here on Jenny Matlock ... off on my tangent ... I will attempt to follow these hallowed words with my post this lovely Saturday morning.

Todays post is all about giveaways...giveaways past, giveaways present and giveaways to come.

Let us first step eerily into giveaways past. See the mist shrouding this post in secrecy and mystery. Ha. That was pretty serious literature-like wasn't it?

Giveaways Past is the first Giveaway from Alphabe-Thursday and brought to you by the letters C, D and E. To be entered into this giveaway you simply had to link to this weekly event held every...d'oh...Thursday.

44 of you linked for the letter C, 47 of you for the letter D and 48 of you linked for the letter E. That makes a grand total of hmmm.... add the 5, carry the 2....ummm.... 139 linked posts! Not a bad start.

Mr. Random Org picked this link as the winner:

"D" is for Dome

Kathy, please E-mail me and let me know your choice in gift cards...Joannes, Michaels, Tasteful Garden OR Amazon. Congratulations and thanks for participating in this every week.

Oh excuse me. Mrs. Matlock wants to say something. Yes, Mrs. Matlock? Class, please remember to try to visit all the participants of Alphabe-Thursday. You can link anytime to read and comment even after the time has passed. Thank you. You are dismissed.

...
...

OK. Umm...thank you Mrs. Matlock.

Now where was I?

Giveaway Present! Please step with me into my living room. A place of horror and darkness punctuated only my fallen Fisher Price figurines and boxes of cookbooks. For the Present I am giving away one of these Chickberry Cookbooks.
You can click on the dedication page to find out a bit more what they are all about but the important thing is this:

Any comment to my Saturday and Sunday posts count toward this drawing. I will pick one winner from the combined comments tomorrow night and your cookbook will be mailed out to you on Monday!

And now...for my jumping up and down exciting, happy, happy FUTURE GIVEAWAY!!!!!!

Guess what? Guess what?

Oh, I guess you can't guess.

But I got the most amazingly sweet E-mail from Lisa Leonard of Lisa Leonard Jewelry Fame who asked me if I would do a giveaway and a review for her. Which means she is going to give me something to give to you (but I don't know what it is yet...) and I got to pick something for me, too...and I picked this amazingly cool necklace ... .

I am really excited but I think I might have scared Lisa just a little bit when I sent her this reply e-mail to her query: "Absolutely, totally and completely.
Oh gee. Was that too enthusiastic? I mean...ummmm.... sure...if you want!
Oh heck with it! "YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!" she screamed in a totally casual voice."

I'm ashamed to say this is 100% true. I really did answer her question about whether I wanted to do a blog giveaway for her with those words.

Slinking away now in shame.

Because I must finally admit that I'm not no Charles Dickens and this ain't no modified version of a Christmas Tale.

This is just random tangents from an easily distractable mind...

and three fun giveaways!

Sigh...

Love your writing... Charles would be shaking in his boots IF he were alive to be able to do so. You are hot on his heels... ! Sounds like you've started a successful meme, and you have some marvelous giveaways, too. Lisa Leonard rocks the house with her gorgeous jewelry; you know you've truly arrived in blogdom when she asks you to do a giveaway!

Hey, remember you can link up a Sunday Scramble post if you want! Since you're so fond of going off on tangents, ya know.

Wow! Thanks Jenny! I've already sent you an e-mail, I don't fool around when it comes to winning things lol. I'll be honest, this is such a fun meme that I'd completely forgotten that there were prizes involved. What a nice surprise! Kathy

Well Mrs Matlock, since I've been playing hookie and since I've already won a cool cake book from you, I better not do the cookbook thingy...

BUT I have no shame in wanting a necklace!! So I'll be all eyes here as usual. Well, except for when I'm telling stories..which I better go do some more. PJ gets a little upset and stomps her feet at the words "to be continued"...

Have a great Saturday my friend (O:

1. Congrats to your winner!

2. I saw you packing all those cookbooks and I was dying to ask about them, but I forgot:)

3. I love her stuff...I wish she'd contact me, but since she hasn't...I will continue to enter. Is is okay to say now that my favorite is the illuminate necklace? I keep drooling over that one.

Happy Saturday to you!

Sue

O! I never thought of that. I should send you something to give away for me. You have a ton more readers than I do!

I'm so pleased you referred to Dickens, I'm reading David Copperfield right now. 19th century literature always gets the shaft, but I think it's pretty great.

The cookbook sounds intriguing. I am a very amateur chef, trying my hand at completely from scratch raviolis today! I'm so excited! My excitement is only tempered with the knowledge that my children will turn up their noses at the homemade from scratch ravioli and probably request fishsticks or hot dogs instead. But I'm not going to let them bring me down today.

Thank you Jenny Matlock for all of these words put together to tell a story as only you can do:) Thank you so much for my sweet treat that I received in one of your giveaways! I opened the package and the sweet note but not the candy yet. Two of my Grandchildren are coming to stay tomorrow afternoon and they will share it with me. Your posts are just wonderful and I look forward to the next and the next and the next.

Girl, you should see how I answer the emails I get when I win something. Those poor people probably think I'm some hermit living in the swamps down here. Hmmm, may need to rephrase that, by backyard is in a swamp for real!

Smiles~

Hi, thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. My head is still spinning (in a good way) after reading your blog. I don't know what a meme is (thought it was a typo for memo) - and overall feel like I am in a whole new dimension with blogging. I'll check back soon. Thanks again!

Thanks for the sweet note about my birthday boy - he's a keeper! The cookbook giveaway is a cool idea. Thanks for letting me know. And you SO deserve the Lisa Leonard piece. Her work is really beautiful. I am coveting the thin sterling cuff ::sigh::

Love love cookbooks. Along with all the ones I have gotten my daughters I would guess I almost purchase as many cookbooks as I do fiction. Thanks for being so generous amongst your tangents. And hubs and I watched a re-run of the pickers last night. I think I could manage a few spiders, I don't scream about them anyway.
