Beam me up Scottie

Can I just say...

Who the heck wrote this ridiculous prompt and made this sci-fi week.

Whoever did it deserves to be strung up by...

Oh...

Ummm...

Ahem....

I mean...

What a wonderfully fun week of sci-fi adventure here on Saturday Centus.

I give to you my unique 100 word story with the prompt hi-lighted. I'm certain you will enjoy this satirical literary masterpiece.

Should you wish to read other literary endeavors for this prompt, please click here.

Sci-fi?...mutter, mutter. Beam me up, Scottie...curse, curse.

OK, here ya go.

Prepare to be amazed.

Or not.

Alien abductions are no laughing matter.

I have been confined to a room on the Mother Ship for so long I have almost forgotten my home.

I am cared for by strange short-legged creatures whose wide trousers trail onto the ground. Colored pictures cover their skin and many are controlled by brightly-colored rectangles with small cords that attach to their ears.

They ridicule and taunt me with inanities. “How are you today, Ms. Matlock?”

And then they bring out long syringes from behind their backs and shove brightly colored pills down my throat.

I am ready to return to Earth. Beam me up, Scottie.

PS. I hope this didn't hurt your eyes as much to read it, as it did my fingers to write it.

PPS. I'm sorry! I'm so, so, so very, very sorry. Please, please forgive me. Sci-Fi!!!!! So very, very, very, very sorry.

Sigh...

That'll teach you, Ms. Jenny! But all is forgiven for you stretched us outside our self imposed boundaries. And that's a good thing!

Sounds like teenagers are once again to blame! :) Fun! Thanks for the challenge!

Honestly, that was the hardest prompt ever. And speaking of ever, you must never, never, do sci fi again. Yikes.

This was my first time and I loved the Sci-Fi prompt!
Loved yours :-D

Well!! It was a VERY difficult and challenging Centus - don't do this to us again. I hope you learned your lesson LOL. Actually I loved yours. I can't imagine what someone looks like with colored pictures all over their skin. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the next Shake Up, ha.

You did a marvelous job, especially for not being a sci-fi person! Great story too. Are you sure there's no truth in it? Lot of that going on in AZ you know. Anyway, I loved the sci-fi prompt and have some other ideas for future SC with my post.

Ok, you are forgiven. Sort of. I LOVED your story. It did not hurt my eyes one little bit. It actually made me laugh out loud. Oh, and Viki, if you want to know what people with colored pictures all over their skin look like, come to Austin and visit 6th street on a Friday night LOL. Kat

Pass the brightly colored pills my way. LOL! Just kidding. Sort of. No, it was different.

I think you did great! This is like my childhood nightmare written out in blog format. I guess you can say I'm part of the X-files generation since I spent most of my teenage years watching that show. Being abducted and having syringes shoved into me by strange looking creatures were part of my worst fears. I think your story reminded me of those silly fears from long ago. Well done, Ms. Matlock :)

Sorry doesn't cut it Jenny. Groveling works.

This sounds like real life institutional humor. At least that's what I've been told.

I wanted to comment on your work, but I'm still too traumatized by my recent attempt at sci-fi.

Have mercy, Ms. Jenny!

;)

(PS. Okay...I'll make a valiant effort and grind out two words: clever and creative.)

Oops, that's three, isn't it?
I must be recovering more quickly than I thought!

And just what did those brightly colored pills do to you? Eh? Hmmmmm?
LOL....
tough prompt and i still haven't come up with anything.

Oh Jenny, you are more than forgiven. Your story is great! The needles and pills scared me the most!

Brightly colored pills??? Wait! Are those "the good drugs"? Hang on, Jenny! I'm coming to help you out with those, uh,those pills!!

Great job! It sounds to me like a cross between playing aliens and doctor with some grandkids! Loved it!

HI Jenny,

Awesome treatment of the SciFi theme !

This prompt was so fun to do ! I did a submission and once I got started, it just flowed. Luckily I love SciFi...that really helped. It was nice to have so many read and comment on my 1st effort.

I'm on board for more in the future too !
Thank you !!!

Jenny, I was sure you were describing the medical staff at Kaiser. I mean, at a certain large HMO that shall remain nameless.
I will only forgive you for the assignment because I enjoyed reading this (and, yes - said with a grumble - writing my own).

Needles? Pills? Almost as scary as a sci-fi prompt! But seriously, enjoyed your tale and love SC. Why did it take me so long to join in the fun???

I do pity the others but loved this prompt...I love Sci- Fi/fantasy in general...makes me feel young again....your story is the scary version of an alien encounter gone wrong...maybe you should profess some love for this genre...they may give you some rope... :)
