And now, on to Judie's wonderful prompt for the week. The prompt is in bold and my story is 100 words!

It was impossible for her to wrap her mind around this ugly truth. “OhmyGodOhmyGod…we told her over and over again not to keep secrets…”
An evil, little voice spoke up from the confusion of her troubled brain. “Children learn by example. Did you show her not to keep secrets?”
Her shaking hands flew to her lips. She ran up the attic stairs. With trembling hands she lifted the stack of letters from the ancient chest where she had hidden them years ago.
“OhmyGodOhmyGod,” she screamed in despair. “I showed her these letters. I told her we wouldn’t tell Daddy. OhmyGod. I showed her it was OK to keep secrets!”

I loved it. I totally can't read anyone elses until I get mine done.
Didn't you already do one? - lol - the more the merrier? It was intriguing too - I did post one on my http://elysabethsstories.blogspot.com blog - so check it out - E :)
Uh oh. Parents can't afford to be human, can they? This was a fun and nerve wrecking post, Jenny.

I just read her post, and I'm so glad I did. Such a simple, but brilliant idea. Surprises, not secrets. Your story proves how destructive secrets can be. This was heartbreaking Jenny, every parent's nightmare. Great use of the prompt.

Pretty darn powerful! Secrets are bad. Doing something that HAS to be kept secret is worse...
glad I burned those letters 25 years ago!! Whenever my mother said she wanted to tell me something but "don't tell Rod!" I told her not to tell me anything that I couldn't tell my husband.
Secrets always come back to haunt you! Great take on the prompt.
Ok is this sort of like my momma bribing my little sister to not tell daddy she was sneaking ciggies in the outside laundry room?
I wonder what the secret is? Oh the curiosity.....~Ames
Well done, Jenny! Unsettling and thought-provoking.
I did go read the article, and that lady is right on.
No secrets!
Yep, secrets are not good. Good job and a lovely post you sent us over to read.
Oh, the character sounds so undone! What things in our past can come back to bite us!
Riviting, Jenny...I held my breath. It took me somewhere I've been trying to avoid for years...
I read Nancy's post, but it is almost 11 p.m. and I have already had my NightyNight tea, so I didn't log in to whatever to leave a comment. It is,however, an excellent post. There were way too many secrets in my family.
You're good, Ms. Matlock! :-)
Oh dear...just what my mom would tell me: "Don't tell Dad.." And it's taken me a lifetime to begin unraveling all those secrets.
This is thought provoking Jenny.
I will head over and visit your friend.

Oh yes, secrets and kids. Dangerous combination! Heading over to read the post you recommended.
Jenny ... i want more .... more, more more more more!!!!!
I did read the blog post and it was an important reminder.
This centus is bone chilling, Matlock. Kudos for starting my day with an Arctic blast.

Oh you are too good !!! especially with the OhmyGod! just love the cheerfulness in all your writing! No matter what, you always make a person smile! Thanks for putting these weekly writings together, I try to do as much as I can squeeze in! ;)
Secrets are good as long as they are kept hidden...enjoyed the post ....and yet "its a secret, don't tell" is the most effective way of revealing truths that don't effect us... :)
Jenny, This is so very disturbing and real, but I have learned to expect great writing from you. I actually got anxious reading about the terror in the heart of the mother. I could see and feel the whole thing
Thanks..........cj
Lovely! The wrong things we do have a habit of comiing back to us isn't it true?
